Hey, I been listenin to you guys for years, just decided to jump into the mix- not much of a joiner, lifetime outsider. But I have an alterior motive, I need info about my new old car- a 47 Anglia Gasser I am the new caretaker of. I purchased it from the widow of John Satterwhite, a drag racer from Jackson Mississippi. John was an olympic gold medalist in skeet shooting in the 60's. By all accounts a way CQQL guy, wish I coulda met him. I traded a BEAUTIFULL 66 Tempest convert that I owned for 32 years for his gasser- that's how bad I have always wanted one.Anyway, any info on the history of this car will be appreciated. Thanks.. Hey hey , glad you decided to join in the fun here , gassers are amazing...buddy had one in Long Island NY , Wayne was his name....are you gonna race it this year?
Hey Choptop!! ..For now I have only done some local shows, this car is a project...It's a total rush to drive a drag car on the street. I'm adding on to my shop, when I have a more comfortable place to work I'll rip into it..At some point it will be back on the strip where it belongs.
Thanks to HAMB I was contacted by people who knew the car and it's owner. The guy who took the pic I had found on the internet was nice enough to send me a CD with 100 other pics he took that day in August 2013. The car was only run once, made 3 passes. Here is a pic of the first pass- carried the wheels till mid track. I have another lead to follow to find the 2 guys who had helped with the car, one of them drove that day.Amazing how the internet can put people in touch.
