got everything back together to have the car displayed in my booth at Cincinnati cavalcade of customs. here is how it looked, it is now back at the shop and ready for more work

 

My wife and I stood and admired your work for about 10 minutes Friday afternoon at the Cincinnati show. I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to speak to you. I would like to have told you personally how nice I thought it looked. Here is a picture we took that day. It will be fun to see the finished car having seen the chassis.

There is a lot of good here, but the headlight placement couldn't
be more right.

 

i have not updated this project in while. things were put on hold on my end for a couple months while i was dealing with preparing to move shops into our new location. didnt want to cut on the car to move it when it was in a good spot to be moved and sit for a little but while we got back up and running.

so now the fun starts. we started on the chop. 4.5 inches in the rear, and 4.125 in the front. leaning the posts back. we also used my signature curled relief cut in the rear corner to radially shrink the compound curve of the body to get everything to line back up. still lots more to do with the doors, hinges and cowl, but have it all tacked and working my way forward, welding and finishing as i go. here are some pics

Nice to see a quality build here. The swirl cut on the rear corners is unique. Please explain. Is it a tension relief?

 

the curl cut will radially shrink the compund curve of the top of the roof, which allows you to line the sheet metal back up as it should be. a lot of people will use multiple straight cuts which add more welding, grinding and hammer work. straight cuts will also leave a small knot at the top of the cut that will need a lot more blending work after welding
