After my father passed I inherited the Ardun project and its now progressing steadily. However, we are missing one adjustable screw (photo) and would appreciate any info regarding.
Time zones are a killer and phoning is somewhat a pain but if needed, I will do it.
This may very well be a stock item I can purchase locally as it would seem logical to use a standard part rather than re inventing the wheel. Does anyone have a clue if this is true?
If not, does anyone live near Don Ferguson and be willing to shoot one to me, of course I will pay costs. Thank you hot rod world.

Perhaps if you provide dimensions, we might be able to figure out what it is? Outer diameter of the threads, and the length.

  4. And welcome to the HAMB...
Ardun project sounds interesting. Ya got more pics?

  5. Why not just contact Ferguson and order it?

What's the thread, length, and ball size. They didn't invent the wheel, I bet it's a stock item and I may have one.

It does look a lot like a GMC part. Probably Buick or Chevy to. Or call on. Simple deal.

Thank you for all the responses I received from my question. I had previously had difficulty getting answers from Don Ferguson and the times I had called I had to call back etc so I was hoping that it was an easy and quick purchase I could solve at my local speed dealer. Anyway, Mike at H&H Flatheads may have the problem solved for me. I cannot tell you how much help and a hec of a nice guy he is.
I have attached a photo of the engine as it is today. The top end is only resting up for the photo and nothing is bolted down yet. I sold the SCOT intake and purchased the four barrel set up from H&H over the net today. P3220004.JPG P4250116 (Large).JPG

This is the vicky that the Ardun will reside in. Much has changed since the day I took these photos. This is the day it went to my body guy for a complete strip and rebuild. Looks tidy but the paint had bubbled as it say in primer years before and must have taken moisture on board. Anyway, Chassis has a new coat of paint and I have fitted a new LSD centre with 3.8 ratio into the Lincoln 9inch with new bearings with 28 spline axels and new big ford brakes, drums with a lokar hand brake set up. The body is now all in poly and ready for a final fit, Seat belts and seats have been installed. It awaits the motor and gear box before the floor and cowl get the treatment. I am running a C4 swapping out the top loader as my back is crook and cannot lift my left leg real well. The trans is all newly overhauled with a shift kit and a gennie shifter. It will be a trad rod and the wheels pictured are now replaced with solids with caps and rings. It will be black and red. Hope you all like my plan and I will post some more photos as it progresses. Well this was as of yesterday RuFFDaWG. It is a freshly dipped and magnafluxed 47 ford non relieved block that I bought from Mike Davidson. I installed the forged crank and new pistons and rings, and bearing supports and had it all balanced. Put in the mellings oil pump and the new oil pickup and now we have the heads finally coming together. As i mentioned elsewhere, I have just purchased the 4 barrel intake from H&H and will run a holley wiht a C4 auto. Check out the other pics I have posted. Cheers

I had thought of that but being from Australia the time zones are a killer and previous attempts to email him have been less than successful, however, I did send him an email and I this morning received a reply. I now have 2 avenues to seek my part. Mike at H&H may have thrown one in when I purchased my new 4 barrel intake for the project.

That looks like it's going to be a really neat ride!

...and after all that, we still don't know what the thread size is :)

Had to take a ride to get the thread size mate. Didnt have it on hand. The good news is that I have sourced one from Don Ferguson and just waiting his bank details. Having said that, the thread dimensions are
    1 and 7/16 length
    5/16 thick thread

My Dads plan was to put the Ardun in his 32 roadster and run a flathead in the Vicky, but he had a lot more money than me and I had to consolidate. I had to choose roadster or Vicky and which motor so this is how it settled. Ardun equipped Vicky, you dont see that everyday. Cheers

this is the body at present. All the fenders and firewall and all other body panels are straight and in final primer ready for fit to chassis. I am waiting on the engine guy so we can fit the running gear in the chassis and fit the front section of the floor. Straight as an arrow. Needs to be if its black.

It looks as though Don Ferguson has one for me, however, I really appreciate the offer. Thank you so much.

Man...'32 Vicky...Jet Black...handed down from your Dad...Ardun...C4? So be it, bad back=good thinking.
You, Sir, are a 'fortunate fellow'. Kudos to you for all the RIGHT THINGS you are doing to this ultra rare package!
Consider black for the steel wheels. Elegance is within reach...

I know what Ardun heads are, but that's about it. I'm curious, what ratio are the rocker arms?

My Dad and I had a great relationship and i got his love of fords early on. When he passed i sold my steel 32 roadster and mercury flathead engine to finish his vicky. Like you said a fortunate fella, i sure am. Wish i couldve kept the pair but relunctantly decided on one fantastic 32 rather than 2 incomplete. Thanks for the kudos buddy

I am copying a set up by a ford barn buddy from Reno, Tom Stryker who has a running ardun in his 53 ford. He sent me photos of his set up and we are in the process of commencing this next stage. Photos will be forthcoming.

Some more pics of various stages of the build. You can see all the parts on the shed floor, then the bottom end build with the forged crank. Also the ford big brakes the day they arrived. My lincoln diff striped for paint. My front end with new rotors. I also onstalled a howards cam and i have the spec sheet if anyone has an interest.

Last few photos for a while. I uploaded the howards cam specs. It may as well be writen in chinese as it would make as much sense. Pretty sure from memory my Dad got this from Flathead Jack on his recomendation. Also posted the finished work for the rear seats and set up for the front pair. Belts are now installed.
