Dumprat, Thanks! I have read you can boil them in Simple Green. I was just curious what approach you took.
I tried simple green, pine sol seems to work better. I stuck them in a 3gallon bucket with about a liter of pine cleaner and tap water and let them soak. It even freed up he little ball at the bottom of the accelerator pump bore. They are usually a ***** to get loose.
Air cleaner bases made. Fram filters. Bigger than the little ****py Chinese paper ones. Now I just need to design a ***y top.
I thought about that style Volvo but the Thickstun has been repopped and copied to death. Not sure yet. I need to let it stew in my brain for a bit.
Yea it has, but more like your intake and home made would match my expectation for a home build truck, good looking, simple and rugged.
Use a valve cover, cast, stamped, finned, or whatever works. and later when you add a supercharger it'll work as an air box.
Na to ratty. Revisiting the finned aluminum idea. To much finned aluminum might be like too much bacon, no such thing.
Sorry but I've so busy on the tub I haven't watched the progress. This is the only pic I have with me.
At least it is not too "Ratty" maybe too "Streatty" but you are a moving target at present. Carry on!
This look like first step, and I don't care for first step, middle and last step makes a big difference! So shall this!!
hot rodding in its purest form. this is what the hamb stands for. i'm waving my shirt over my head. i just scared the cat.
And done until I get some stainless wing nuts and redi rod for the tops to attach to. Finned coil and fuel block as well. Might have to make a set of finned side covers and a regulator cover too. I will also need to figure out how to keep all this stuff clean. I am lousy at washing cars or detailing things.
Milling machine. 7* tapered endmill with a .06 radius ground on the end. I cut the fins 3/8ths deep on a 1/2" pitch then stepped the cutter over .010 to climb mill the sides for a nice smooth finish. After demurring I bead blast them and then sand the tops of the fins. I will polish them later.
This give you a better idea? Table saw fins always look too square. You could try a carbide endmill in a router though?
Man your gettin real close to done...You must be getting the itch bigtime. Great respect for you machinists...you can do art with metal...went from streetrod billet to period in a few carefully executed p***es of a machine...this hotrods really coming together Dumprat...enjoying your build...
