Tech week is over and so I can post these photos taken by me when we came back from Portland Roadster Show. These cars can be seen when driving I-5. I have noticed them every time we are passing by and now I decided to go there and ask. Nobody was home but an angry dog. Several "Go away" -signs too, so we left before bullets... Took some photos while driving... Does someone know them better? There seems to be some old 30'ies Coupes on the field, several 50'ies cars and truckloads of parts....
yeah, I've seen that sight too. makes me want to cry,and then go buy a lotto winner! {fat chance of that }those are down around chehalis arent they? R.R.
What town were these near? I know of a pile of cars I can see outside of Stockton on I-5. Down by Merced there was a guy with a bunch of simular cars, that was kind of a jerk when I talked to him but its been awhile since I've seen those so I dont remember the yard that well.
Hmmm, I'm not that good with those names, but South from Seattle, near some old bridge and some Truck front sheet metal company (WTF, they had tens of truck noses laying on the field)... Might be near Chehalis... Yes, I think so...
Thats Chucks place, with the 52 Merc, its for sale. He also has a ton of 32-34 Fords, but thinks they are better than Gold. He might be rite!!!.....OLDBEET
I stopped and talked to him once. Started out very suspicious then talked politics a bit and asked serious money for ruty junk. But unless he is jusy moving things around stuff may be selling.
Is that the place just north of the 505 I-5 interchange? I always slow to about 45 and yell at my wife when shes sleeping and say LOOK! Like its the first time ive seen it. Always wanted to stop...
he owns longview auto wreckers here in town old man has talked to him a lot he has a lot of stuff most is WAY off price. lots of A and T stuff
Thanks for info, I thought there might be two possible cases; he is sellin nothing, or he sells but they are way out of range. I wonder if he is willing to sell anything for reasonable price???
He turned down over a million for 5 o 6 of his 32-34 Fords. But still ain't got enough money to get his teeth fixed???? Has a barn fresh 49 Merc coupe also?????......OLDBEET
"Next time take the train" or so the old advertising slogan goes. Seriously, I've lost count of the number of places or backyards you can see with derelict old cars laying about from the train, let alone the numbers of cars themselves. If you catch the 7:30 Seattle train to Portland (501) and the 11:30 Portland train to Seattle (506) you can make a day of it, 0845(500)/1345(507) from the other direction. Just remember to take your camera and a notebook, not to mention a good map or GPS with you, you're gonna need them if you want to have any hope of returning to a particular spot, and don't be surprised if the Conductor is a car nut just like yourself.
Haha, maybe I need to do that... Though Jimmy2Bottle told me some good stories working on railroads and finding some cool shit... My head is spinning always when driving, that's why I ask my wife to drive when we use smaller backcountry roads...
Hey Platu, are you reading this??!?!? Beet, I think I can do it for You! O/T but there is Primer Annual Book #2 coming out of printing, and yes it's in English... lol http://platuart.com/ That Eldo is such a shame and 32-34's too... I wish he could build some kind of shelter for them...
Hi you all! You can get Primer mags from Luke Karosi, Kustoms Illustrated. Issues 14 and 15 are on their way. He has backissues too. He also have Primer Annual book in stock!! PLATU Chief editor of Primer Magazine
you guys want to talk about expensive rusted out cars? i am sure you have heard of ClassicCarsRotting.com, but if you haven't, its SEVERAL acres of nothing but old cars and trucks that are rusted to crap, some beyond recognition. i emailed them sometime last year just out of curiousity and asked what it would take to purchase JUST the cars off the land, no land involved and was told it would take 8 million and he would have to talk it over with his partner......
i just checked in my saved emails, he said there are around 4000 vehicles on the land and they want an average of $2000 each
Mika, for some odd reason that old bastard likes me. Tell me what your looking for and I will see what kind of prices he will give me, usually a little bit better than the average Joe, I just seen him last weekend in Smokey Point.
Hell I hear ya there, I took the train from L.A to New Orleans on the trip I bought the Olds on, damn there is some stuff in back yards !!! The GPS and notebook would be ideal, take a few weeks off, take the trains one direction and drive back checking it out...... the best thing is the trains go into all the towns the highway doesn't and generally across all kinds of out of the way places.
