We just shot a good coat of sealer over my El Camino.....but a few dings are now showing that we somehow missed........damifino how.........but anyway, are we ok to wait til tomorrow morning, around 18 hours, so we can glaze the dings? Painting it the GM Hyper Blue metallic, also called Blue Me Away........corny name, I know.

    Thanx in advance. Randy D

Most sealers, 24 hour recoat window...after that, scuff with scotchbrite lightly and clean well.

Most sealer is wet to wet, which means you should base coat it in about 15-30 minutes or about one beer plus gun cleaning time. If you have to wait until tomorrow, you most likely should scuff it and shoot another coat before adding your color.

BUT, tomorrow, your paint store will be open. Ask your paint guy because all that stuff has variables.

    Good luck, -Abone.

Tech sheets should tell you. Either paper or online. The paint I use is 2 hours at 70 degrees. After that , the sealer must be scuffed/sanded.
It's awfully expensive to repaint something, find out the correct answer from your paint guy or be prepared for problems.

Suggest you read the tech data sheets for your products. I personally don't use any one part glaze putties anywhere during the body work and paint process. If it doesn't have hardener it's junk. Dynatron putty-coat or similar two part product is great for small areas, pinholes and light skim coats. Fillers need to be blocked and primed before top coating or you'll most likely see it...

Good luck on shooting metallic blue... Silvers and blue metallics can be a beeaach, tiger stripes, etc. At least you're using basecoat-clearcoat system... gives you a chance to blend and get the metallic to lay right.

BTW, if you ask 5 body guys/painters a question you'll get 10 different answers...

tiger stripes is from improper OVER lap, and then there's motting ,
gag ganging up of the metalicks is what usually happens to those WITHOUT
    serious TRIGGER time...
