I like it, but what is it? The aluminum insert reminds me of a '34 Auburn or REO Speed Wagon. Who votes International Harvester? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1932-Ford-Original-Grill-/162129516650
Looks like a '32 p***enger car shell with the original top emblem and hood band on it yet, but with a homemade insert. I'd bet the insert had to be made in two pieces, and that's why it has that center molding. WELL worth $400, probably will sell for quite a bit more.
Lincoln maybe, But I still suspect it was more likely that whoever made it had access to an IH truck grill. whoever
To me it looks like a 1935-36 WILLYS grille flattened out and the extra center molding attached to the front side to blend into the surrounding molding of the '32 opening.
The insert in the '32 shell is wider than the Willys, but the pattern top to bottom is the same , one wide bar & two skinny.
Looking at the eBay pics, the grate pattern in the insert is 1 piece, flat stamped material. Not a welded bar type like youd find on a refrigerator rack. Still may have just been some aluminum sheet and not originally from a vehicle.
I think it may have been a early replacement grill. Maybe custom or JC Whitney kind of thing. I have seen a couple other grill shells with similar inserts that were not OEM.
QUOTE - Original farm fresh grill with some defects as shown in photos. Rusty but very solid.I've been told that it's off a '32 ford truck. It sure ain't a 1932 Ford pickup grill shell! HRP
I also say International, around 1936. I had a Grille and Shell off one. It is the same paattern also as my 35 Willys but its too narrow as has been said. JW
I just noticed every third horizontal bar in that grill is fatter. I don't see that pattern in the IH grill. The Willys grill has that pattern, but as stated is too narrow. It is also not a Corbitt grill, but this picture is so rare I just had to share it, anyway.
