Here's what I got: 1950 Mercury, V8 Flathead, 6 volt, mostly original. Shooting for a mild custom. I have owned the car for approximately 6 months now after finding it on Craigslist and towing it back to my home. I wish I could have driven it there, but we got it running after a week or two and its been putting along ever since. I've done little things here and there. Brakes have been redone, including new lines, wheel cylinders and a master. Swapped the burnt out Overdrive transmission for one from a '49 and would like to rebuild the overdrive trans sooner or later. Those Lyon caps just came in the mail, which was a start to classing it up a bit. Looking for some fender skirts to finish it off before I get the body work and paint done. Aside from some electrical issues (damn rats), it's been a blast driving this thing around.

I'm looking forward to contributing what I can to the HAMB and am all ears with any advise you have to throw my way.

Welcome, that looks like a very solid and complete Merc you've got there unlike what many guys here have started with. Where are you located that you found such a nice what appears to be rust free Merc? There are plenty of Merc builds on this site if you look around to get some ideas. Good luck with your new project. Get that overdrive repaired cause it makes all the difference when you're on the highway.

Located in Oceanside, CA. Aside from some surface rust and a quarter size hole in the passenger rear panel, she is rust free. Thanks for the advice, Slopok. I'll be sure to check out all the builds before I go on to two door and Carson top it. If you know of any decent 3 window Carson topped Mercs out there, feel free to send them my way!

Hey Chilly, I like the car. I am working on mine. It is the two door black '50 coupe. This has been in my family since 1951. It is my third project car and was give to me by my Dad. Way back when, it was Dad's hot rod, ( it had all the then considered necessary hot rod "Hop Ups", then it was the Family Grocery Getter, then it was sidelined for about 50 years, now it is mine to bring back to current driving standards. I am also thinking mild custom. I might put an Offenhauser Dual 97 set up on it (which I rebuilt) and will also update the suspension. I have Caddy Hub Caps and the Cocker Pie Crust large white walls look great (to me). I have to redo all the wiring and the interior also, (field mice crawled into the storage garage, ( Dad and Mom lived out in the Country) and have eaten most of the wiring).
