I have a bone stock distributor on my 1940 flathead, can someone provide me with a picture/description of the terminal on the "cap" end of the primary ignition wires inside the helmet. I am not at home right now and want to order some wires for the spark plugs and I am not sure what is on the distributor end of the wires Thanks in advance, yes I did a search.... Greg
Same terminal used on practically everything from maybe late 1920's until the arrival of electronics and fat wire in the '80's. Most applications with open distributor caps used a rubber boot around this, you don't use one because the outer cap and rubber to tubes protect the system. Best to build your own wires from bulk wire, because that way you can leave extra at the plug end while stuffing everything into the conduits to help you pull, then when it is on the engine each wire can be snipped to give you the exact curve and hang you want. Brillman's has everything and multiple types of wire...I like the traditional hotrod Packard 440 and Rajah terminals. Rajahs install very positively, the other end above prongs into the center with a very small protrusion of wire through the hole, which I then flatten out around the hole and solder for security. Shoving it into its home then shapes the thing. Brillman: https://www.brillman.com/
