New guy from Texas. I'm getting my great grandfather's 65 F100. I've never been one for leaving anything stock. Through some of my Google searches I stumbled upon this forum which seems to have a truck load of info. I'm trying to get away from the need to put a diesel in everything. I was flirting with the idea of a twin turbo big block ford. After talking to my brother inlaw (hardcore chevy guy) He told me BBF aren't very reliable when you add forced induction. Something to do with the webbing in the bottom of the block. I'm not very knowledgeable on gas engines. I can get any of my machine work done cheap by said brother in law. Anyhow sorry for the long rant. I'll be creeping through the site looking for info on what's worked for everyone else. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Hi Phil & welcome from down in Yoakum. License plate shows Farm Truck & it really has that look. Lots of dents & patina and the surface rust does not show rotted out so it looks like a good base for something great. Here we are a bit more traditional that Diesel's & turbo's & patina is fine but no rat rods. There is many great ways to improve & get that truck back on the road and have some really good riding in it. Hopefully others will have some interesting suggestions on a build but in reality it will come down to what you like and what path you take. Where in Texas are you located as surely there are some of us nearby. Good luck and keep pictures coming as you build. Jimmie
Thanks for the welcome. I'm just in the planning stages right now. I figured I will start from the back and work my way forward. I'm thinking something like a street rod. Still able to drive it regularly with plenty of power to run at the track. I've got a feeling it's going to end up getting a 460bbf. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
