The engine is 273.8 cubes with a downdraft carb. Squirted ATF in the cylinders and all the plugs were just sooty. No obvious cylinder rust, but I'll bore scope it tomorrow.

Great score! I've always liked the looks of that era Chrysler. How long is the hood, and how long is the body from hood edge to tail? Bob

Man! What a beautiful, graceful car. And built at a time when money for cars was almost non existent! Some people actually parked their luxury cars to keep them from being vandalized by jealous people who were hit hard by the depression.
I can see it tastefully lowered with a primo black paint job and chrome wires with 4" wide whites.....milled head, modern pistons, 2 carbs and dual exhaust..

What a great score. I would love to build a Resto Luxo Rod like I remember in the early 1970s. I guess I need to buy a Lotto ticket and convince you to sell it to me.

I let the ATF work it's way in overnight, pulled the flywheel cover and it turned over nicely with a screwdriver in the flywheel teeth. So hooked up a 12V, pos. ground to the starter and let her rip for a few minutes. Slow at first, but got faster and faster, almost idle speed. So, yippee. Fuel and ignition system refresh and it will run. Probably have to cut the rusted area out of the gas tank, blast, weld a patch and POR 15 sealer. Then complete brake job.

The hood is 52" at it's longest part, not counting the grille shell and the car itself is pushing 15'.

Update. It's up and running like a sewing machine again after 50 + years storage. Pulled the head to have a look at the cylinders and found them perfectly smooth, no rust, no ridge, and the pistons only had a smear of c IMG_0524.JPG IMG_0528.JPG arbon on them. Must have been rebuilt just before it was stored. Milled the head while it was off. Rebuilt the water pump, new fuel pump, gas tank from Tanks.inc that was almost the same as the original and new body fuel line. New brake system complete with hard lines, radiator re-cored. Adapted a 48 buick super carter carb with auto choke. Powder coated the wheels and new excelsior radials. Misc electrical, bulbs etc. Clutch chatters a bit, so if it doesn't fix itself, looks like I'll have to replace that too.

Wow, great car. Can't wait to see it done. I saw one years ago with no side curtains as it had a 413 cross ram engine with the carbs hanging out either side:D

Beautiful as is, every now and then things should just be preserved.

  26. Love the car. I used to have a '32 Chrysler. Be sure to contact the Walter P. Chrysler Club as a source of parts.

Those are BIG cars. Park it next to a 32 Ford and you really see the difference.

Awesome find of an awesome car!

Hell it was barely 30 years old when it was entombed in that garage.
To buy that car in the depression meant the person's line of business wasn't hit too hard. I could see it belonging to a good fortuned businessman, executive or perhaps a Doctor.

Did you get any history with the car?
    How many miles on it?
Is that the original plate on the seat?
How's the seat fabric under the plaid seat cover?

The guy's grandfather supposedly bought it new, or almost new, then his dad inherited it and put it in storage. He p***ed away and the son reluctantly put it up for sale. He wanted 1st dibs if I ever sell it. Mileage is 45K. I haven't looked under the seat covers yet, but mice pulled some of the stuffing out of the right seat back. No mouse smell at all, luckily. Most of the stuffing ended up in the muffler, along with tons of bird seed. Kept the header pipe and replaced the muffler and tailpipe.
