Been wanting to do this for awhile now. Had a few requests and finally making some time, so here we go. For those of you that know Vernon, he doesnt need an introduction, but for the ones that dont know him, he is 85 years old and still getting after it. He is at the shop 5-6 days a week designing, fabricating, and customizing beautiful unique top notch custom interiors, as well as many other things that do not involve leather and fabric. His 46 project started about 3 1/2 years ago and is currently near completion. Interior is about 75% done, the car needs to be wired still (we are looking for someone in the Austin area to help us out with that part) and then finish assembly of the car. Hoping to have it ready for the Lonestar Roundup next year. All the design work, proportions, and custom touches are Vernon's vision. This is what we started with... The chop... 1 1/2" and kept the drip rails. Pancaked hood...
Bumpers. Rear is 46 Merc and front is 46 ford rear Trim fitted, modified, and made... Ready for paint...
85! What a fine craftsman Vernon is. His eye for proportion and style suggests his age. Everything looks right and is done right. That is one beautiful car! Hope you are learning from this very talented man. I congratulate him on his fine efforts.
I've always thought the roof line on the "short roof" coupes to be oddly ill proportioned from the factory. But with Mr. Vernon's chop and changes it is really beautiful, in a restrained and tasteful kind of way. Well done.
Excellent work & a great looking car. The chop looks like the way the car should have been built. Thanks for sharing the details. Glenn
Stunning. Preeminent style. Delectably smooth. Scale perfect. Can only be topped with naked women. Stir to taste. Beautiful.
You had me until the button tuff, sorry not my cup of tea, but it was done amazingly well like the rest of the vehicle. Work that I could never accomplish, work that I admire.
