There are 2 types of Impala hubcaps in 1960 --> the regular one that you already have and one with a 2-bar spinner. EDIT --> it looks like the 2-bar spinner hubcaps are from the 1959 model year.
I like the tri-rib radirs. Flat face spokes look more early 60's to me than a torq thrust rounded spoke. Dual rib comes cast or polished and without the center rib. Any 5 spoke will look good though.
I would hate to ask that about someone elses car but nice work,I think the guy meant to leave the flat top but make it a 2 door, I have to admit Ive been curious myself what one would look like, I think it would probably be cool.
Well,I think its unique but.......not sure, The more you look at it the more it does grow on you.........Surely the OP wont mind having a little fun. Thanks!
............I bet it would be relatively easy to build one compared to some of the 2 door sedan/post conversions done here. ..........Yeah............Yeah, I think I like it.........
I had one in high school, white with blue inside. Mine had a 348 4 bl. and a turboglide, put the stick gears 3.73 in it and it would run 15 flat @ 100 mph in the quarter. Surprised a lot of my buddies!
I saw a '60 same body style as yours but was factory Grey and the body completely stock and had 15 X 8 rallies with flat disc brake center caps and black walls.......it looked GREAT.....just a thought....
Nice surprise today - I removed the funky blue & white seat covers and found really nice original upholstery! Still need to order new carpet though.
What a sweet find! Are you going to stay with the Powerglide, or update it? My friend's '60 Impala post 4-door was changed to a Turbo 400 before he got the car but he seems happy with it, especially on the long climb up Highway 62 to Yucca Valley.
Right now I'm just sorting it out, fixing some oil leaks, etc. It will mainly be a cruise night, fun car. But it runs really nice, so I might consider swapping in a 700R4 for the highway at some point.
Fall of '59 my dad bought a '60 Impala 4 door, white, with red interior. Automatic transmission with the 235, very underpowered for that land yacht. Took forever to wash that car, it's huge!!!
Nice car! A simple change that goes a long way (appearance-wise) is replacing the back-up lights with extra tail lamps. With blue dots.... ...or without.
