New to the forum, thought I might throw some pics up of the rod I'm building. Hoping to be done for the Pileup or "The Last Billetproof" . Little info on LowKa$h. 1930 Chevy 4-door Sedan 500 ci Cadillac engine TH350 trans (eventually a Muncie 4 speed) Stock '30 front axle 1963 Olds Dynamic rear '30's 18" swap meet wires up front '30's 20" Heavy Chevy rears Chopped 6" with a rake (soon), channeled 5", Z'ed 17", 11-foot wheelbase Designed and fab'ed entirely by me. Comments are welcome, if you like it cool, if you don't I don't care. It's not your rod. Later, lowka$h
Nice but you may want to re think your geabox choices including the 4 speed. Some real good reading here http://forums.500cid.com/index.php?sid=ff2e0f2f72a328fc9963ae273ea6ce89
Oh yeah, i like this rig with the 500 ci Cad monster in it. If you keep the car light as possible, the clutch on the non-agressive side and the tires loose, I think a good Muncie might hold up in it. That thing will surely be all over the place though.... which i like. Keep us updated, i like where you're looking to go with this i think... -scott noteboom
Thanks for the comments fellows. Panhead, as of right now, the TH350 is not the ideal box I want to put behind this. It's just what I got. And I got's about 3 of them. So I'll run it with the TH350 for a while until I blow that biiatch up. Unless you got something you'd like to donate, Im all about charity . Burger, the "Heavy Chevy rears" in question are still on the truck at the local pick-and-go. Actually, they are the fronts off of a '30's Chevy 1-ton (I believe). The truck has the dual tires in the rear. The bolt pattern on those is a huge**** diameter (like 12") 5 bolt pattern. The thing that caught my eye was the hub that the wheel was attached to. It steps the massive 5 lug down to a normal 5x5 bolt pattern. This is a two fold positive. It gets me the tall 20" rim I want and it gives me the spacer width I need to clear the body with the drop in the back. I saw those last year towards the end of the season and didn't get to yank them from the donor. Now that the snow is creepin' away, I'll be gettin' out there again. I'll try and get some pics maybe this weekend. I'll keep posting pics. Later, lowka$h
