I was raised in a 1957 Chevrolet Station wagon. It was two tone Surf Green/Highland Green. What's the difference between at Belair, Beauville, and Townsman? I've been trying to locate a car like this. Can someone please help me? Leslie with 1957 Chevy Wagon from 1963.jpg Leslie, Randy, Mike, Billy 1957 Chevy Wagon Ocean City 1963.jpg

Two styles of two-door Station wagon, the top-of-the-line Bel Air Nomad with a sloped pillar behind the hardtop door and sliding windows at the rear seat, and the basic Handyman with an upright sedan B-pillar and a C-pillar , available only in 150 and 210 trims. The four-door, six-p***enger station wagon, the four-door, nine-p***enger station wagon (both called Townsman in the 150 series and Beauville for the Bel Air version)

According to your photo, the 57 shown, was either a 210 Townsman (6 p***enger) or a 210 Beauville (9 p***enger, a extra seat in the rear cargo area.)

Lots of 57 Chevs survive and they are one of the best supported for aftermarket parts. It should not be hard to find a good station wagon but it will be expensive.

You have some incorrect information. There was no 150 Townsman. The Townsman was only available for the 210 and BelAir. 2nd, the Beauville was only available for the 210.

Maybe not expensive. I was at a friends house and he asked,"Do you know anyone who wants that car?"
"What do you want for it?"
    "Whaddayagot?"
I gave him some Harley parts and drove it 25 miles home. Ran out of gas about a mile from home, coasted right up to a gas pump. Been driving it for about 26 years now. 57 chvy.jpg

In order to decipher all the models in the 55-57 Chevrolet series, it takes an advanced degree in Generalmotis Knowitallogy. Even the diehard Tri-Five Chevrolet guys occasionally get it wrong. My older sister drove a 57, 210, Townsman Wagon our Father bought for her and I. But, my sister would take the car before I could get to it. I'd clean it up, wash and wax it, clean the interior, and fill it with gas, then Sis would take the car to the drive in movies with her friends. It would come back a mess, and I got tired of that, so I bought my own car, a 56 Chevrolet Utility Sedan. That 56 was the first in a line of TEN 56 Chevrolets. The 57? Sis went to work for Boeing, and a girl in a Toyota pulled out in front of her one day. Totaled the 57, destroyed the Toyota, and put the girl in the hospital. The 57 was Aztec Bronze and White. Too bad you're on the other side of the country; I have a friend who deals in 55-57 Chevrolet Cars and Parts. It might take him a little while, but he comes up with cars all the time; he literally finds them hiding under rocks. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Amazing, manyolcars just posted a photo of what that car looked like, minus the flames, and Buick grille.

If you haven't figured it out yet...the model names have to do mostly with how fancy the car was. The Belair was top of the line, 210 was middle, 150 was cheap. The Townsman vs Beauville has to do with the number of seats, the Beauville had an extra seat in the very back to make it a 9 p***enger wagon. As noted, the wagon in your pictures is a 210 model, you can tell it's not a Belair because it does not have the fancy striped metal trim inset in the tail fin, it just has paint. Whether it's a Townsman or Beauville...hard to tell. Did it have an extra seat in the very back of the car?

tri-5 boys know right down to the grease marks, and rubber bands-n- masking tape.
and sometimes they even know what frank had for lunch on thursday at the michigan plant...
    i've owned 116 - 55,56 and 57s Chevys , Now less than a doz.
Your quest should be an easy one.... now chasing down your EXACT car may be a bit harder.

    LJHoney,

If you are looking for a '57 Chevy 210 wagon in surf & highland green like the one in your photo, you may...'technically'... find one hiding in plain sight as a Belair. Over the years, people have added the Belair tidbits to '57 210's, particularly the iconic aluminum insert. Just adding the aluminum insert on the rear quarter panel can deceive most casual observers into thinking an actual 210 is a real Belair, when the 210 was just trimmed 'up' to the Belair. There are a number of other differences between 210's & Belairs (interior fabric, etc) besides the presence or absence of that aluminum insert.

    Happy Hunting,

    Scott/Gotta56forme

Did a quick search on craigslist, not a whole lot very close. Found a rough one near Hartford Conn.

Looks like its all there but I'm betting its full of rust. There are a couple of high dollar ones in New York also. I had trouble linking the posts.
OC, had some fun times there during High School. As a kid the family drove to Wildwood every summer and yes it was in a wagon.

The good thing is that those wagons are not hard to find and they are not too pricey (unless you want a Nomad).

LJHoney - FWIW - the car in your pics has a radio (antenna on fender), optional backup lights, and the outside mirror isn't stock. Possibly someone can id the trim level by the door panel you're standing by. Just can't tell if there's a 3rd seat no matter how hard I look through that window!

It's the 210 trim level. You can tell by the side trim, and the molding below the side gl***, but not above.

There are three '57 210 Beauvilles on eBay right now, listed by the same seller in Indiana.
