Hi there everyone! I'm new to all this, my name is Austin Kays I'm 20 years old from Raytown Mo, I've been into hot rods and the culture since I was a kid listening to my grandpa's stories of drag racing his hotrods and cruising around with my grandma in her 56 ford fairlane. I've recently come into a few of my own a 1950 ford 2 door sedan and my immediate project the 49 Chevy 2 door fast back I call Lily. I look forward to posting my updates and pics as I progress. As of now she has a 235 with Fenton headers and a 3 speed out of a 54 Chevy. (The 216 bit the dust). This 49 is my first build so it's gonna get interesting folks
It takes a village here we are yanking the old motor in a dirt side yard And the 235 painted like it lives in Lincoln ready to get stuck in the Chevy After a couple months of messing with it in the dirt the motor figured it would lay down on the job... Or the inner fender... And We all decided that maybe a dirt lot next to a patch of poison ivy wasn't the best spot to get this thing together. With some creative problem solving and one @porkn****** we got the motor lifted and the steering hooked back up We then towed the car across town under the cover of darkness to the home of the "super tune" where we could all put some time in on it and not get muddy or itchy! Don't know if it was the implide sketchy-ness or Austins impression of the ******s driving but the brakes had smoke rolling off them by the time we got where we were going lol. As of now looks like the motor will come back out and get the new trans and clutch stuck on in the garage along with a U joint that doesn't look like the second half of a terminator movie and stick it back in with other improvements made along the way. He'd really like to make it to greaserama here in Kansas City so that's the goal! After that we have some more fun in store for the car and a trip to the river run in Ottawa in September!

[/QUOTE] LOL Mrs ****** said that if she knew we were towing she would have come along, she likes to tow. Of course we would have made it across town a little quicker and it would have been my poop smear in the seat. I told her before I took The Kid home that the brakes were smoking a little bit she looked out the window and said, "Yea they are." and just smiled and said, "you pulled him didn't you." then she did one of these.
Hi & welcome. Looks & sounds like you got some good help going on the project. My avatar shows my 235 engine in my 46 Chevy Coupe. That engine along with correct rear end ratio & tires makes a terrific Hwy driver. You can see the dual carbs & headers and also there are goodies hid inside the engine as well. There is still lots of good parts options out there for these engines. My second car way back when I was in high school was a 49 Chevy coupe with the 216. That old engine took everything I could throw at it for a couple of years before giving up the ghost & playing dead. Just remember if it ain't an inline 6 it is just a p***in fad. Do a build thread & keep us posted with photo's on the HAMB. Jimmie
Alright motor is back out! Time for progress! We are trying to just get his bumped over to the main forum and have it be the build thread but for now we'll keep it updated where ever it is
Alright I hear the trans was bolted up and the motor shoved back in for a full mock up to figure out the new front motor mount holes before coming back out for a new clutch and a good going threw. With that done and the new front mount figured out they should be sticking it back in and moving forward in making this a running car again. Let's here some updates and stories first hand Austin
