Hi I have a 351 Windsor in my car. I recently got a good deal on a offenhauser aluminum intake manifold and they guy threw in a new HEI distributor for another 30$. Before installing it i wanted to make sure it was for a 351w.I found every measurement I could find online and referenced it with mine everything checked out. The only I could not find online was the only measurement that didn't fit. At the end of the distributor there is a hex key hole. The stock one is 1/2 " and the one on the new HEI distributor is 3/8". The good thing is that it seems to be interchangeable. So my question is where can I find one?
The two piece shafts is so it will fit several Ford V-8's I have had one in my 302 for Four years. Contact these guys: http://www.skipwhiteperformance.com/listview.aspx?Product=A&Sub=B
Thanks Jeff I'll give them a call. How do you like the distributor? Is to worth the effort to find this gear?
They could not help me. They said they don't sell the gear speretly. But I did find out its for a 289-302 the oil pump hex drive at the ****on of the gear is .25 ID and for the Windsor it's is 5/16" ID
I think it would be difficult to find the gear separate, these HEI's are from Pro-Comp Electronics best advice I would give you is buy this for $42.50 http://www.skipwhiteperformance.com/detail.aspx?Item=6510-R and keep the one you have for back up parts or sell it to a guy with a 289-302 if you were to buy a replacement cap and coil over the counter it would cost more than the whole distributor. I have been very satisfied with mine the one wire hook-up saves wiring clutter under the hood.
