Stock or lowered? Is there a difference between a 55 and 56. Just wondering if this would apply to a 56.

Lowered would call for measuring the collapsed and extended length to see if it could be used.

The '57 guys are doing that also....probably a different shock though. We use a Monroe shock for a '55 Ford...... As Jeff mentioned, it lets the axel drop another few inches eliminating the need to undo the shocks to get the necessary clearance. I have them on mine, and I can research the number if anyone needs it.

My '59 barely lets me change the bigger 15" tires jacking it at the same point. But great tip on the alternate shocks.

My 55 is stock height on the rear and the shocks I have wont allow me to remove the tyres with loosening the shocks. I'm just about to instal some new replacements. An absolute PITA.

My 56 Ford is not lowered, so could I also use the Gabriel shock #82125?

Also, my friend has a 52 Mercury with 3" lowering blocks. Does anyone have a shock number that will work for him?
    Thanks
    Jim

    Thanks so much, Jeff.
The timing for this is perfect, as the old shocks are Old Monroe Air Shocks that really don't work at all.
Wonder if anyone has a number/brand for the 52 Merc I mentioned, that is lowered?

As a bit of info, the Gabriel shock 82125 is also a NAPA # 94049

Is this shock shorter than the standard shock? And what is the number for the front shock and how much shorter is it?

    I don't have a number for a front shock.
I think I used the ones recommended by Jeff, when using the Aerostar springs.
The rears, I think, are longer than stock, but not sure
