Mine wont shift into reverse when its cold either. I have to put it in reverse and sit there for about 20 seconds before it will shift. Only at initial start up though.
Lip seals are probably hard as a rock and need to be warmed up a little so they will relax a bit. Some times a conditioner can help a bit but I would budget a freshen up in its future. Sent from my LG-H343 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I keep reading that the slow cold shifts are due to hardened seals. hope it will last until tax season...
It is actually inexpensive to rebuild it yourself. If you've never rebuilt an automatic tranny, give it a try! You will be able to do it no problem. You just need some very basic tools and your (kitchen) table. Either Autotran.us or Fatsco will have the parts for just a couple hundred dollars. If it runs after it warms up, your internal seals are probably shot. Since it does eventually work properly then it indicates nothing else is catastrophically wrong.
