I posted about my 46 cabover a few times in the past 10-12 years. The original frame was junk, so I welded the back half of an 86 Chev 1 ton frame onto the twisted front original frame. This was done to fit the truck into my garage, plus I wanted to build the truck as a pick-up. To that end, I bought a 51 F-2 long box bed for it. For over a decade, it just sat in my garage.

Now it's time to start gathering parts to build a proper frame. I've been considering either welding a second gen Camaro subframe on the front of the Chevy frame or going with a Dakota frame. The truck will be a cruiser; it's heavy hauling days are done.

    Any ideas?

I am using a shortened 85 chev 1/2 ton frame with van steering.

I got a free '53 F100 ch***is last week from a friend, so I guess I've got my donor frame now. The first step is to shorten it 18.5", from 110" to 91.5". After that is accomplished, I'll snag a Crown Vic front crossmember for it.
