I'd really like to hear from all of you who are currently running or have run water injection or water/alcohol injection on street cars. It would be great to know your engine build details, especially induction and what kind of pros and cons you experienced before and after applying the injection set-up. Lastly, let me know if you home-built your set-up or bought an off-t******lf unit.

I'm building a small block with small roots-type supercharger and plan to run a paltry 6 lbs. of boost. However, I am considering water injection as a means to lower temperature of the charge as a means to reduce detontation but also to improve H.P.

    Thanks much guys,

I made one with a Hobbs switch that turned on a light in Fords that said POOR GAS Mileage, a needle valve and a windshield washer kit with one nozzle in air cleaner lid. Add a safety switch to kill it when ignition is on and no oil pressure so you don't fill up pan listening to radio. You could feel a loss of power so run a minimum of water. Engine was a 9.5:1 383 Dodge when gas went bad about 1971. I'm saving a water injection that varies with RPM for next project.

A street driven small block with 6 or even 10 lbs of boost does not need any auxiliary cooling. A 9:1 small block with aluminum heads can do 6lbs all day long as long as you are mindful of your air/fuel ratio and timing numbers. What is the rest of your combination?

But, if you want to do it, give it a shot. It would be a neat little project.

    Good luck, -Abone.

Yep. I know that although aluminum is alot more forgiving. I'm just looking down the road and certainly it wouldn't hurt a thing to have it. I just wanted to hear about any personal gains (or losses) from those tha have done this and are using it or have used it.

Very curious about this topic. I was thinking about running this on mine, I'm going to be running a 10.5:1 small block, and thought about using an off the shelf kit.

Do you really care what I used to post this message?

Snow Performance makes a great system that works very well on blown engines. And you can tune there system with spray nozzles they offer. If you use washer fluid it is best to use fluid with the highest methanol percentage you can find.

olds used it on the f-85 "jetfire" back in the early '60s. that model ran a turbocharged 215 v8.

I ran one on a OT late model car with a supercharger. I recommend specific kits designed for it. They use high quality pumps and fine spray nozzles. You can run window wash liquid that has a high alcohol content. The lower temperature rating, the better. This would be for a year around car in moderate or extreme temp zones. It adds some power and safety factor to stop detonation.

Thanks Fellas. Some good feedback here. previously I had spent a little time looking at off the shelf kits and would tend to lean that direction just to save a little time. I was just a little surprised at the cost though so may look for a used model. I don't want more in a water injection set-up than I have in my supercharger!
