I like the Cal Custom scoops
but they don't do a damn for filtering

and the early Vette louvered jobs
but they only fit the small fours

It's pretty much impossible to find something that looks good and filters well (the filters in the bugcatcher pictured are tiny, for example). I went for "filter well" on my 55. but I've been thinking about building a scoop/filter housing. The only problem is I can't come up with a good design.

the sponge material is very restrictive and most screen does not catch enough stuff.

these air cleaners were made by dave wolk from wichita, ks. the air cleaners have been on this car for over 10 years, and they're still holding up good. dave makes good stuff.

  20. I took a pair of 12" Hellings style covers (talk to Vaphead at Riley Automotive!) and sliced a piece out of each. I made some alumimum plates for some 10" filters and put the covers over it all.

Heres what I did. I used some aluminum rain gutter guard cut and shaped into a dome ,then used some filter media from the hardware store to cover it. Place scoop over filter and attatched to carb so far it works pretty well I also give it a light spray of filter oil .

  25. This was mine, I took the scop apart and inserted the volicity stacks from the inside and secured them, then put the scoop back together.
