Here is what I believe to be newly discovered footage of TV Tommy Ivo's first dragster - the single engine Buick Nail Head. I've never seen any video of it. Only still pictures. The first video is without the blower, the second is with it. There is no sound. These videos are from, "J Naki" on YouTube, who wrote in the comments that the footage of the single Buick with a 671 on top has not been do***ented on any site as yet. He said he was lucky to be at Lions to film the two different versions of his car.
He is a Hamb member and has been posting a lot of top notch footage of the early days on here reciently. That is some great footage of Ivo
He has a lot of good videos of early drag racing on Youtube. But I'd like to read what folks on the HAMB are saying about them. I can't seem to find him on here, though. Do you know what his HAMB user name is? Or, can you post a link to one of his videos?
Here is one of his videos. With his name (jnaki) you can search his other Hamb posts. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/lions-dragstrip-1960.1025215/
Thanks, elgringo71. 'Just figured it out. I just tried searching for my own name and yours on the iphone app. 'Guess you can only search the HAMB for people on the full website.
Thanks! Lots of really, really great footage early drag racing with clips of Mr. Ivo's single Buick mixed in there several times. You can even see it painted white with red scallops at minute 24:06. Could this be when it was sold to Mr. Prudhomme? Go to 24:06 I've never seen video of it painted white either! Good stuff! Thank you Jnaki!!!
Thanks for sharing! It's always cool to see the how the "old guys" raced! "Just because you can put tap shoes on an elephant doesn't mean it can dance!"
