I think the Buick headlights looks good, especially if it is chopped!! :) I have had the same thoughts with the grill, and I agree it is tough to make a good looking custom front on these models!!

But sure sounds like a cool kustom you are building!!

Heres my 48 x 4 door....it was so rusty l traded a 50 Dodge tailgate for it.Couldnt figure what to do with it an I wanted a truck ..well the Ford cab and rear fenders were freebies so I started cuttin an welding. This will be season # 3 on the road and its a real blast to drive ,totally impractical but fun as hell . It will eventually get full fadeaways to the cab corners 53 buick headlights , and a different grill ,just not sure what yet. Its different maybe not real traditional? But I learned a ****load building it and had it on the road for less than $2,000.

Actually shiny green color war first and now it's in primer. Rear fenders welded into the body and original taillights removed, that's why it's primered now.

Not a big fan of this particular car, but some might be.

  16. This is my 48 Fleetline. The headlights are 53 Buick. The grill surround is 49 Mercury. I just have to finish the grill bar that will float in the middle.

pretty cool, i like it. i see your rear fenders are sticking out a bit, not quite wide enough for those big ole wheels? did you know that the Olds fenders from the same years are 2 1/2" wider than the Chevy ones and they'll go right on the Chevy. i just learned that recently myself. somebody even makes fibergl*** versions. they are advertised as widened Chevy fenders but i'm not sure who makes em.

  21. Suuuure now I find that out. I'm pretty new to the "scene" and just don't have the connections I'd like... The wheels are 22x9.5 on 295/30 rubber I had to do something to hide it in there :D

The car that RoadDevil just posted belongs to an old buddy of mine Dean from Ft Wayne, IN. If I remember correct KustomLincolnLady's husband Rob had a huge hand in the build.

mike.. dont go giving away all my secrets... I would say more like 1.75 inches wider.. and ONLY olds fenders from a coupe, convert, or wagon (like I have) will work.. Olds fastbacks had some FUNKY rear fenders that DONT work..

the olds ALSO has a GAS door on the driver side.. (cuz a olds has CL***)
where the chevy had the gas fill neck on the p*** side..

I am gonna do some work to make the olds fenders work on my chevy, and use the gas door.. all in due time

The Olds rear fenders make the *** end look FAT........I really like my Chevy rear fenders on Big Olds. PLUS it allowed me to use a very cool, completely shaved Chevy rear bumper that I had. If you use Olds rear fenders you'd better think of a rear bumper treatment...like an ugly old Olds rear bumper... ;) :D

I'm digging this one. Set the rear end down a little with some bags and it would be near perfect. Very nice.
