NE Wis - Any cruise nights?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Cliffy, Mar 10, 2006.

  1. I try to make it to a car guy outing up in the Green Bay area once a month, but am sick of always going to Green bay. Is there anything organized in the appleton/oshkosh area as far as a hangout location or monthly/weekly event? Is there enough interest to do a monthly get together in the off season and a weekly or bi-weekly hangout night during nice weather?
    Just curious.

I would be interested, IF my car was done! Hopefully before the end of the summer it will be roadworthy. I live in the Appleton area and don't really know of any old car clubs that actualy get together. A friend of mine is having a car show about 30 miles west of Appleton (Weyauwega) On June 10th if you're interested. It's the third year and we're hoping to get a big turn out so tell your friends!

On the last Thursday of the month. starting in May, there is a cruise in at Culvers in Antigo.

Includes a shop tour and Beer at the Bob K Garage. If I happen to be in town that is.

A shop in Forest Junction? Hell, that's just up the road from Potter! Do I know you?

Anyway, the Penguin in Manitowoc (old drive in) has a cruise night on Thursdays during the summer, and that should start back up pretty soon. Kinda far from Neenah for Cliffy but it's pretty cool.

Wisconsin is pretty lame for old car events. It's either a watch-the-grass-grow car show or the occasional small time get-together. There's gotta be something better to do.

That's the funniest thing I've read all day. I've met Squablow, and he seemed alittle slow, but I didn't think he was that slow:D:D:D

  12. Squa, your something else!

Just what I figured, LAME-O Fox valley. Few things a short drive away, but nothing right here.
Okay, who's interested in starting a hang out night? Maybe monthly in the off season...weekly or bi-weekly in summer? I will offer to start it off at my place in Oshkosh. How does Tuesday night sound? Starting next week, March 21st. 5pm to whenever.

    What do you all think?
If there is any interest, I will put something a little more firm together and post directions.

I did a google search there aren't a lot of cruise nights listed for Wisconsin, but i did find a site that listed several car shows around the state.
    http://www.midwestcarshows.com
    might help you find something/

  15. There are a few cruise nights over on this side of the state. The A&W in Sparta has one once a month, and Rudy's Drive In in LaCrosse has a cruise weekly. Kind of a long drive for a cruise night for you Fox Valley guys. What about car shows? If you're bored Father's day weekend, there's a show in Warrens (just north of Tomah). The show lasts all weekend, complete with a flame throw. I think they might even have a muffler rap and a model car contest. If you're interested, let me know. I'd love to flood their show with primer.:D

You go to the Thursday garage sessions? Moe Power has gone to a couple, but I don't know of any other regular HAMBers.

EDIT - Just checked out your page, this is Tim's friend Scott from Ariens. I seem to remember jump-starting your Lincoln one night last summer....

The fox valley scene is thriving as usual...., actually way better than that... the OSHKOSH guys are actually pretty easy to find, and we all meet in Appleton weekly....... hangin out networking , to find dope parts for our sleds......

  19. Yeah, Scott, you know me. Damn piece of shit Autozone battery!!! $80 and it doesn't even last a year! Had to replace it after that trip.

I haven't been to a garage session lately, but try to make it to all I can. Problem is it is always in Green Bay. Why can't we do something like that down here?

You're right, they usually are in the Green Bay area. We've gone down to Appleton for sessions before and had a good crowd show up. I'd recommend volunteering for a session in June/July/August when you can count on some warm weather. I bet the GB crowd would happily hop in their rods and cruise down to Oshkosh on a warm summer night. Invite your friends and fox valley HAMBers, the only reason that most sessions are in and around Green Bay is that most of the guys are in and around Green Bay.
