There are two wires that go to the carb. Choke stove area I think. if you cross them the starter will engage. So look at your starter there should be a small wire on it. When you apply power to it the starter will engage. Hook it up to the start position on your new ignition switch. Original has no place to hook it up to.
Ok, so I have to replace the ignition switch, bypass the carb start switch and run a wire to starter solenoid from new ignition switch. Any idea of what to order the switch for ?
I just ran the 2 wires from carb into my dash and installed a push button. simply turn ignition to on and hit the push button.
You can get a universal ignition switch, or just do the two wires and a push button. You will have to remember that your Buick likes to be started with some gas on. That is why the starter on the gas pedal works so good on them.
I did the same thing. The push button is mounted way to the left side of the dash along the lower lip. Almost hidden.
