i am switching my motors in my 65 ford chop top from a 240 to a 300 straight six. i need to know if i can bolt everything from my 240 to my 300, and if the motor mounts are the same, basically i dont know anything about these motor and i would LOVE to learn more, if anybody would care to teach me or send me to a website that explains about these motors
The 240 and 300 is the same motor except the 300 have a longer stoke. The 300 will bolt right in. Go for it and have fun.
The 240 flywheel has a smaller clutch with smaller bolts although I used to swap them back and forth and even the smaller held fine. And the 300 head has a larger thermostat water passage which the 240 housing barely covers so get the 300 thermostat housing. I did the swap on my '66.
