Hey all, I have a question about the steering box on my 57 wagon g***er. It is a manual box and there is a lot of play. We tried adjusting but no affect. I seems to be the original steering box on the car. Is there a rebuild kit for this type steering box or do I need to purchase a new/used one?

    Any help would be appreciated!

  3. Is the play all in the box,,or is the jacked up geometry part of the problem ?

Everything is tight but there is about 4 inches of play in the steering wheel. The steering wheel is also on tight!

How's the drag link look (if you have one)? I just adjusted mine the other day on my '59 and it made a difference.
4" of play is pretty ghastly. I'm going to check the specs on the adjustment of the drag link again, I just went until I had no movement at the ball stud at the centerlink, I still may need another 1/2 turn.
