This is the rear bumper that came with my '34 Ford coupe. When I first saw it I almost hurled. I really think that this thing is growing on me. I think it'd look pretty good on my coupe, especially since it's going fenderless and hoodless.

Whaddya all think? Sure it needs to be cleaned up, prolly rechromed and straightened, but it's kinda cool. The rear pan that goes over the fuel tank already has the holes for it.

It's a nerf bar. Very popular in the mid to late sixties esp. with the g***ers.
Get it re-chromed and use it for sure.

I like it, I think after some rechroming it would look pretty good on a highboy.

Vance - The coupe looks good and your chop works. The rear nerf bar is very cool but p*** on the bowtie comment.

Yeah, I have slid it into place to get a feel for it. The thing behind where the plate goes is situated between the rear pan and the fuel tank. I'm guessing for stability sake... This thing looks professionally made, clean welds and everything. The round stock is solid as it weighs quite a bit.

Thanks for the opinions, it's goin on the coupe after it gets worked over. Now I gotta find some cool front nerfs to complete the look.

Depends on the overall "look" you are going for.

The early to mid 60s drag race guys used a Ballast Bumper
on the back, they could add water or Lead Shot to improve traction.

Also good for push starting, and knocking the grill out of late model
**** Boxes that don't watch where they are going.

Looks to me like it's designed to have a flip-down tag & that's a trailer hitch. I've made a few of those myself...
    Love the bumper.

I don't know, it looks like something I see on a pickup push starting Sprint cars, but I've never seen a 34 with something like this. Any pics of the mock up?

I'll try to get a pic of the mock-up posted today or tomorrow.
