Folks Of Interest Kool Deadwood Nights 2015

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 38 2 DR Sedan, Aug 24, 2015.

  1. So I was wondering just how many fellow HAMBER"S might have gone to Kool Deadwood Nites this Year. It happens here in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We are a small town with lots of western history so the car run/show is the biggest one we have around here. If you came and seen, post and if you have any comments please post them also I will see that the guys who set it up hear your feeling on the whole thing. We have tried to get a swap meet going and this year it did happen, but the day for it was a cooler day and 6 vendors called and cancelled which I have not really found out why, but am going to see just what the deal was. It would have been one more thing for people to enjoy. We average around 400 to 600 cars, so 3to4 days of Hotrods is a very awesome time around here. Please feel free to say how you felt about the thing if you did come. Yes I know the parking in Deadwood really ****s but the city officials just don't understand if your going to have all of these people you also have to have parking for all that come whether they are car people or just people who come the see all of the cars. Also my biggest ***** is the concerts on Main street, I myself think they should be held at the fair grounds, but they want the people on main street for the gambling and food and drinks. Ok enough from me let us know what your feeling are about the whole thing. I hope for all that did come, that they had a great time, It is a fun few days. Thank you to all that did come and show your cars.

I would venture to guess there wasnt but a handful of H.A.M.B. friendly cars there. Mostly muscle cars, streetrods and ****ing RAT RODS. There were a few Kustoms that I saw that were kool.

  9. There is usually a bunch of g***ers, but this year the big group from Colorado didn't bring their g***ers this year, they came in the muscle and street rods and tri-fives. Always look forward to the g***ers there is a couple of new ones each year. I'm like rusty rocket I walk by the Rats, to me it only shows how lazy you are as to building a nice car out of them. Hopefully someone took Pic's and they will post them.

We had a great time as usual. The city opening up a parking lot at the north end of town to registered cars really helped with the parking. Great music at Tin Lizzies. This is our 6th year and we wouldn't miss it. We drove the 37 without incident with the exception of the AC hose blowing again .#@&% Oh well, we didn't need it anyway.

We were there in 2012. It is easy to tell that the event is a city deal not a car club. Saw lots of cars that I would have liked to see up close but everything is so spread out that it is hard to do. Did not see many "rat rods", but lots of nicely done 100_7502.JPG DSCF1065.JPG rods and customs and cl***ic stuff. Here is a picture of the show at the park, which was pretty good. The Sunday morning cruise thru town with the burnouts so close to crowd and traffic was interesting. Sure looked like a liability for the city. I will say that the local police down there were the most friendly and pleasant I have been around.

  15. Thanks for posting, the first pic is at the football field/rodeo grounds, second one is in front the big parking lot in town just off of the main street.

I went last year and traffic was kind of a cluster-f**k.. but what do you expect when you try to cram that many cars and people into a town that small. I did enjoy the show, music, and night life. A nice change from some of the other shows out there and it helps that I do love the Black Hills area. I'd go again --- actually would have this year, but it fell on the same weekend as the HAMB Drags.

  17. Nothing car related that is the last big car thing other then the Mustang Rally in Sturgis but that's like going to the Ford Dealership, way to many new Mustang for this guy.

  20. DSCF1065.JPG Just wanted to point this out, the red 55 Sedan is a local g***er, It was a gas car from the 60/70's that was restored and purchased at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale,AZ.

Just wondering if the white 47 Chevy Aero in this picture is still around the area?

Built it in the early 90's. Nice to see it still on the road. Graphics on the side are a different color but the same design.

  23. Didn't even care.Never do, if I do anything this time of year it is Bonneville or the HAMB Drags. Was on call. dad said he had fun up there short of the hail. crazyD posted shots of hail pile on his running board on the A. Said he even had it inside the car.

I'm just not into the "go park my car somewhere and sit stare at it" kind of shows anymore. I'd rather just hop into it and cruise through the Hills. Matter of fact we should get something like that together here in the Hills. Maybe a 100+ mile reliability run with some cool stops along the way.
