Same car ain't it? Fellows, ain't we deviating a bit from the focus of the thread? Was the production low on these 41 sedans? They have recently (thanks to hamb exposure) become high on my coveted list!

I don't know the actual production numbers, but a buddy had one I liked in high school circa 1955. I can count on one hand the number I've seen in the 60 years since then!

Thanks, Rik. I guess this really illustrates that all the '41 Merc models were scarce, except perhaps the 4-door. I'm not surprised to see how few short door coupes were built -- I've only seen one in my entire life!

Nice '46 short-door coupe at the Belmont Shore car show last weekend. IMO it needs better wheels.

Before it even starts, no this is not a "gasser!!!!", this is the way I remember a lot of fat fendered street rods looking in 1972. Wonder if this is still sitting in a garage somewhere in Federal Way? Gotta like the chambered Corvette side pipes with no covers...

You did not get a photo posted! I'd like to see more because the avatar pic is enticing! Do you still have the battery under the hood?

  25. There are two 46-48 club coupes in Spokane that still look like that. One is purple with deep cragars, the other is light yellow with green flames and cragars I think. I think both are FE powered with 4 speeds. Sits very high, all the way around. I remember them as a kid and still see them every summer out cruising.

Man, I'd LOVE to see those! When I was a young teen in the early seventies, you saw a LOT of fat fendered cars built in that style. Sure beat the hell out of the monochromatic pastel pink purple and mint green, dropped and clipped look that became popular on fat fender cars about ten yrs later!

  27. If you are ever in Spokane, I know where one lives. Now that I think about it, I think one was 428 Ford, and I think one was Pontiac powered?

I do know a guy with a 46-48 Mercury, blue with red and white interior. 389 Poncho, 4 speed, rear end unknown...sitting with a blown up tranny from 70's/80's street racing. But it is not high like those. Still a neat car but unfortunately been sitting outside under a tarp for the last few decades
