Customs flexplate install

    rufusloco

    went to install new flex plate to 250 straight six and the holes are stripped can I run blots with nuts?

    In somewhat similar situations, I have either used HeliCoils or drilled and tapped next oversize. But if you have room to get nuts on there. I guess it will work.

    lots of the 292 engines used 1/2" bolts.

    Probably not. There will be clearance issues either with the block, oil pan, or torque converter. Just get another crank & bearings, with rebuild if needed or get another engine. Loc-***e the new flex plate bolts when you reinstall. If you can drill & tap that is an option but the holes may need to be welded first & redrilled.

    What year is the 250? 168T or 153T
