Holloway was also the voice of Kaa the snake in The Jungle Book. A talented man for sure.

My father-in-law passed up the opportunity to be the exclusive dealer of VW's in the PNW back in the day...he didn't think they'd catch on...He mentioned that it was one of the few decisions he made that was seriously stupid.

Hmm, Billco VW, north of Pittsburgh, was open before that. Started in a gas station, and expanded quickly. By 1958 my father jumped from Chrysler/DeSoto to Billco VW which had grown to a very profitable dealership. Here's a blurp copied from a Google search.

  7. I think all 61 Chev hardtops were bubbletops, 62's were both bubbletop and formal top.

Yes, in fact they weren't called "bubbletops" in '61 because that was the only style. The '62's were called that to distinguish them from the other roof style.

In 61 the Impala and Belair had the (ugh bubbletop) roof line.

In 62 the Belair had it. In 62 Impala had the other roof line.

  15. I lived in a little sweetheart of a house like that - replete with the window planter boxes (that I built). Ah, so simple - just come home and LIVE every night.

    WTH is wrong with us?!

The Sepulveda underpass so that "Mines" field (LAX) could extend the runway. Before it was done the runway ran from Aviation to Sepulveda.

Maybe a liquor store owner? :p There's something unusual about this van besides the artwork - anyone else spot it?

Looks like the Stratocruiser wants to race the Constellation.
That one, N1030V Clipper Southern Cross, had an unusual accident a year earlier - soon after takeoff, the purser heard hissing around the cabin door and told the flight engineer they should return to the airport and re-latch the door. The engineer instead told the purser to put wet towels around the door ; he did so. A minute later the door blew open and a passenger was sucked out of the plane, and the decompression caused damage all over the cabin (including the loss of the ladies' room door!); luckily they were able to turn around and land safely. Hope they fired that FE...

Or perhaps it was someone who lost someone as a result of drinking that crap. Don't kid yourself into thinking it is good stuff. That which is is rare.
