If I want to change the sending unit, do I have to drop the tank or is there an access panel? I think I know the answer but I am hopeful.

Should be an access plate screwed to the trunk floor unless somebody did some rust repair with new sheet metal and forgot to provide access to the sender.

In which case, I'd be figuring out how to safely cut a new access hole without damaging the tank. 'I know you asked for 55 guys' replies, but they had the access hole in '57.
