3x2 pic request

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by stoggie, Apr 7, 2005.

  1. I am working on getting the 3x2 set up on a SBC for my touring. I would love to see what you have for plumbing and fuel blocks etc. The motor does not matter just the set up.
    Show us your pics!!

Looking for a few decent Rochester 2Gs also. Rocky's lookin to so make a package deal on a group of them.

    thanks, Hud

Here is my set up. Seems to work well. I run the red fuel line from Speedway. It looks great at first but fades to brown/orange after a little while. I replace mine at leaste once a year. Linkage is homemade.

I made this one from some 3/4" tubing found at the Home Depot. 5/16" tubing for the hose nipples. A double flaring tool will put a nice hose barb on the end. Just don't go too far.

My favorite is the Eelco style hexagonal aluminum fuel blocks. They came drilled for 3 deuces also.

This is the classic 50's fuel block and clear red fuel hose.

There is some confusion on the red hose. Back in the 50's the old red and clear hose would become brittle and crack causing engine fires. They took it off the market 40 years ago. The new technology stuff they sell today does not get brittle. It stays nice and flexible. Mine has been on there 8 years.

  5. I like the fuel log idea. I thought Tman did a tech on making one but I do not think it made it to tech. I will search and post that too. Keep them coming - this is what I am after.

Not so sure about that, Tommy. My bro had some on his 3-2ed Y-block for a couple years and it turned orange and hard. Replaced it and it turned hard again in another year. I think this year he's going to black rubber line.

Well all I can testify to is mine... 8 years. I suppose there may be different suppliers using different stock. If it gets hard it needs to be replaced. I do check to make sure it doesn't get hard.:)

The original stuff that got banned was more of a plastic. The stuff I got is very rubbery and has stayed that way.

  8. Turned the fuel log on the lathe, it was some scrap Al rod. Plumbed in mild steel lines.

Here's the set up I had on my '40. It was an original 3x2 set up on a Fenton manifold sold in 1962. I had the manifold powder coated and I made my own fuel lines. I had an electric fuel pump so I had to run a regulator at 3psi so the floats in the carbs wouldn't leak.

Yes, I took the red fuel line off for the last time. This year it's going to be plain old black. The red crap I used was from our old friend Charlie of Vintage Speed. It performed just as shitty as the rest of the service and products he's supplied.

i got 3 94's atop a sbc on a polished edelbrock manifold on my '35 coupe... linkage was supplied by jere jobe, fuel lines were home made though..run an electric fuel pump with a regulator set about 2.5psi - i have no problems with them at all.

Here's how GM plumbed the Pontiac Tri-Power back in '66. The aluminum fuel line and brass fittings are available repro for about $50, probably could be made to work with some tweaks.

Man...that factory pontiac tri-power fuel line routing looks like something I would expect from a stoned hillbilly.

DO NOT use aluminium fuel line for your 3-deuce set-up. It will crack due to vibration in time. Could cause an engine fire when you are rolling down the road about 70 m.p.h. or so. Don't ask me how I know!!! Use mild steel lines or rubber hose.

    Stoggie,
I posted my set-up last night under a new thread; 3 Deuce fuel lines, a search should bring it up. My picture isn't very good so I e-mailed them to my friend and he posted 2 which are better. After the search scroll down and you will find them.
