I recently re-acquired this 1950 Monarch Coupe that I had sold in 2005. I then replaced the original grill with a 1949 Monarch Grill With Verticle Teeth Removed .Wondering What The General Feeling Would be for either one. Thanks In Advance. Larry. 1950 MONARCH ORIGINAL GRILL. 1949 MONARCH GRILL, NO TEETH.
Never saw one before in my country Being that it has all the side chrome still, I think the 50 looks more appropriate. If you started dechroming, and removing stockish parts like bumper guards and visor, then the 2nd grille would go better. blonde or brunette, your choice
Danny. I think I have a "BIG GOTCHA" on this one. There is no U.S. production grill for 1950 Monarch. I think you are refering to a 1950 Mercury, which were also sold in Canada. The Monarch stands alone as its own make. Larry
My thoughts. The '50 grill is very Lincoln-esc. While the '49 grill gives it more of a custom car look. I guess grill choice depends on your bent, I would lean toward the '49 grill because I would prefer a custom to a Lincoln.
Like PnB I think the 50 grill gives it a more luxury look of a Lincoln or Caddy especially considering no other customization has been done to the car.
