Mine has broken spring on the handle. I already welded and ground the square pegs.

    Hello,

Our 1951 Oldsmobile sedan had a modified California rake. In 1956, it was lowered 1 inch in the back and 1.5 inches in the front. At first, the auto store spring clips were used to get the squash on the coil springs. This is to get the “look.” (tried 2 inches in the front, not good) Then, we had the coils evenly cut to lower the car. It rode a little rough, but it sure was much better looking than with the stock ride height. The Moon Equipment screw on, spun Discs completed the look… upload_2016-9-15_4-56-40.png upload_2016-9-15_4-56-58.png

On our 58 Impala, we tried lowering the front 2 inches with those auto store clamps, just to see what it looked like…no go. It looked too funny. So, we got some riser blocks and wedged them into the springs to raise the front like the gassers. They worked alright until you went over a bump, then they popped out. We made some clamps and bolted them into the riser blocks to prevent this “pop out” over bumps. The 58 Impala looked better raised in front rather than lowered in front. The ride was still awful. But, this reverse California rake also started on the West Coast in 1958-60 era. Finally, the stock ride height was perfect. yrmv

The difference between a California rake and a Florida rake is the shadow the sun leaves in the late afternoon behind that cool as hell Divco! You would have to get up pretty early in the morning to take that picture out west, and we just don't get up that early.

Now a Vegas rake...that's where things get sticky
