Would anyone know of a database or how to identify the exhaust manifolds from the 50's.? I have a set with casting EDB 9430-A, but cant find out what they came on. I have ID charts for Engine, intake etc, but nothing for the exhaust manifolds.

I have a couple pairs of EDB exhaust manifolds, one set came with a 272 I bought; I think it came from a '55 Ford but not sure. I think many of them are interchangeable depending on what vehicle they're in.

According to what people on ebay are selling this manifold as, it will fit at least 1955 through 1958 292/312. I think as you do as to interchangability. The reason I asked is that I am trying to identify what has been replaced and updated on my 312 I am sending out for rebuild. Sometime previous, the intake/ carb/ distributor and now exhaust manifolds have been changed to later year , and I am 99% sure the heads have been changed, havent found any casting ID anywhere on them, as much as I can see. And they at one time were painted blue, so.... Now that I can get at it (front sheetmetal removed) I'll gunk it and be able to check a little deeper. The vehicle tag ID's the motor as 312, but did someone change everything out? Hmm, time will tell when I get a look at the crank. Going with a 292 block for the build up but if I can use these parts, it will save me mucho dinero. Ran real smooth but stopped oiling on p***enger side.

For the head casting # try looking at the bottom side of the water outlet at the front of the cyl head where the intake manifold bolts on.

Y blocks are super oily, hard to find ID numbers, same as the manifolds it will be three letters and four digits example ecz-c 6015 or edb 6015 or possibly holy grail 113 heads, ID should be on the far right just left of the last exhaust port, mummerts website will tell you how to identify all your parts.

Posted "g" heads are right up there too. If your engine is truly a 312 then it will probably have the g heads. I was lucky enough to find a few sets of each a few years ago.
