Hello all, Been lurking for quite some time gathering bits and pieces of info for my 48 Chevy build. Had some health issues years ago that forced me to retire the hammer and dolly and giveaway my project trucks that I've regretted ever since. However I'm proud to say that I can now stop my sniffling and start over once again, but this time I've got a complete and all original 1948 3600. I don't have any blueprints to go by. I'm just going build it as is, drive it and enjoy. I will try and share photos of the build as it progresses. First order of business was the engine, swapped out the 216 with a 235 that we found locally which is believed to be a Military issued 235 that was only driven around on the farm. Nice old truck.Try using the "full image" for your pics, they show up way better. Are you leaving the 235 stock or warming it up a bit?
Thanks for the tip I plan on warming her up a little nothing crazy this 235 is the early version so we'll keep it on the tame side. I have a newer 235 that has been completely rebuilt, bored 30 over, mild cam, that I'm holding back for when I build my wife's car. Currently my intentions is to make it a daily driver and swap out the 4 speed and rear end and go from there. Got a ways to go. The other day I caught a double rainbow, don't see those to often. You can just barely see it under the spot mirror, to cool not to share!
I love those trucks, there's a fella in my neighborhood with a '50 that he acquired from a California auction last year. A total barn find, solid as a rock with lots of sun burn.
Sorry guys not much progress, still gathering parts and ideas. Now I'm kinda at a stand still with which direction to go on the front suspension...... I would prefer to keep on the traditional side but want a safe ride as I plan on making this my daily driver and the mention of drop axle and bump steer has me a little gun shy... maybe I'm overthinking it!!
