Hot Rods IT'S ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE!

  1. Well sir, I was impressed with the model of the T Roadster and then the Indian Motorcycle took me to the next level then you really pulled all the stops out with the Ariel but the T C Cab really blew my mind. Absolutely amazing skill and thank-you for sharing your talent with us poor blokes that have trouble drawing a straight line even using a ruler.

Of all the things I've built this is my sons favourite.
It's a Billycart (Soapbox Racer) based on a Napier from around 1910.

I didn't worry to much about scale or being overly accurate with the detail.
The carts is right on the six foot mark, duel rear wheeled and made to look chain driven.

I had great fun making the dash and the goose neck horn.
The horn itself is made from PVC pipe and the head was formed with bodyfiller (I think in the States you say Bondo).

I put a fair bit of time into painting the cart adding a lot of scroll work.
The monocle windshield was an after thought when I was one on a Stutz Bearcat.

All the materials used to build the Napier came from the local landfill.
People really do throw the best stuff away!.

I'd just like to say again how much I appreciate all of your kind works about my work.
    Thanks!.

    Trev.

Wow, I am amazed. Awesome job, they all look so real, do folks buy your stuff? Do you show them at local shows? I don't have any money (hahaha), but I was wondering

No I don't sell any of my work mate.
Money doesn't really float my boat, and I get far more just from enjoying what I do!.
I'd like to show my work more in public but it has it's problems.
I don't think for one minute anyone means to brake things.
But pretty much every time my work is displayed it gets damaged in some way.
In the case of the Indian the clutch lever has been snapped off four times so far.

The worst was a young kid (who meant no harm but got carried away) he jumped on my 1920 Harley Davidson and rode it to the ground.
Pretty much smashed it to bits.

Here's a couple of photos of it before its sad demise.

I've only just recently pulled it from the back of the shed and started rebuilding it.
Like I say I don't think anyone means to damage my stuff.
But when their told it's not real I think some just need to prove it to themselves.
Which can at times be a "******".

Wow! I hope you live a very long life, but I hope your work ultimately ends up preserved in a museum. Wonderful work!

This one is a basic Soapbox Racer I made painted in the colours of St. Kilda an AFL team.
    AFL being Australian Rules Football.
It's six foot long and pretty heavy so it takes a bit to get going.
But when it does it works up a good head of steam!.

You're a sick man... but I mean that to be a helluva compliment... Glad you started posting your work, and especially glad the Boss around here likes it, too.

I know you don't sell your artwork. But if you ever start to, put me at the top of the list. I'd love to have some of your artwork in my collection.

    Thanks Mate I appreciate that.
My son ***ures me that the minute I pop my clogs the auction will be on!.
    Hopefully that's latter than sooner.

Here's a few more shots of the Rail as it was being built.

The frame is about 75% steel the rest is PVC pipe to help keep the weight down.
With the body work on it's 13 feet long.

As you can see the dif is hollow it's just a piece of pipe blended in with filler.

The ****pit came up pretty well.
The fire extinguisher as a soda stream bottle.
The bell housing is the bottom of a plastic bucket.

The seatbelts are made from fencing wire and MDF.
When the MDF is steamed it's amazing how far you can bend and twist it.

    Have a great day

Thanks Jack glad you like it mate.
My shop is a carport that's closed in on two sides.
It's a mess to say the least!.

All the tools and machinery I have are in photo's except my trusty old 1950's arc welder.

Nice work. Very good eye for detail. Can we ever expect a real full size car build? Do you have any desire to do it? With your skills it would be pretty darn good I bet.

Maybe one day I'll have a go at the real deal.
But to be honest there's so many cars and bikes I'd like to build just as I do now.
I don't know that I'll ever get around to it.
I have way to much fun with what I do now!.

    Cheers Mate.
