Thanks for the answers to my questions about A/B part interchangeable while ago. I think i'll use cam, lifters, head from model B wreck in A motor. I might use also the crank and rods, i'll turn mains down to A dimensions.

About making babbits, i might leave it for professionals or convert to inserts, but still i like to know how they are made. I really don't have a clue about that process, but i know in the old days it was a common practice.

By the way, i tore down the model B motor. I bought it mainly for the head, but it turns out that cam is like new (i have heard they worn out easily cause cam is has so sharp shape nose.) and the crank/rods/ pistons looks ok too. I guess i have been lucky once in my lifetime ;)

    Another ingenious old tool.....

This compression gauge has a built in starter button.

A late friend had one and it worked just very good

I got it this week after looking for one for years. NOS US$8!!

This Monday out on the Bonneville Salt Flats of Utah, an electric vehicle broke the land speed record for EVs with a two-way average speed of 341 mph. The vehicle, called the Venturi Buckeye Bullet-3, or VBB-3, was developed and built by a team of engineers from Monaco-based Venturi Automobiles and The Ohio State University. The third iteration of the Buckeye Bullet uses two electric motors that can put out 1,500 horsepower (1,119kW) apiece, powered by eight lithium-ion battery packs.

I've been posting this stuff for years just so the kids here don't just walk by good stuff at a yard sale or swap meet

Sometimes it honestly takes an old tool to make a job easier on an old car.

For me it's even more interesting to see one of these here in Poland. Sometimes I wonder what story old tools can tell.

All good compression testers have a remote starter. Always best practice to not crank the engine on the key

I have a large selection of compression testers none like this. What's a key? Before I have always used a remote starter with the key off........

Today was a great day, started with a phone call from Bluto, then a local car show, but the best part was rolling the '12 T out and starting it for the first time in 17 years ! Parked for the winter and the years just rolled by, took a fresh battery and some gas and a roll down the hill and off it went. It pays to have the best Son in law in the world to help push! After nap time my Grandson came over, at 4 years old he is the youngest Model T Ford driver I know. Bob IMG_5135.JPG

Manufacture? No name just what you can see on the gauge. The hose and knob replace the straight adapter getting you better access in many cases

This does mean you car take readings with one hand and keep the carb open with the other.

This just reminds me of an old long gone friend that was a mechanic/tool freak too. Sometimes tools are far more than just tools they are also reminders of people and places, as well as events.

The thing is many great tool companies have gone out of business. And the easy stuff comes in handy often doing a job better than items made today.

I really prefer leak down tests and have Snap-on sets for that

Congratulations to the Venturi team on their 341MPH Electric Record. First LSR Record ever was set by an electric powered car in 1898 at 39.24 MPH.

On Monday morning, the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group—which owns Chinese car brand Geely as well as Volvo and the London Taxi Company—announced that it is now the main sponsor and official automotive partner of the Bloodhound SSC land speed record project.

Pulling the engine on my roadster next week and replacing the clutch/disc. Flywheel has been lightened and I'm running a '39 transmission. Problem is if the flywheel is cut down enough to use a long style clutch. I know that the throw out bearing for the A is different from the one used when you have a '39 transmission. Appreciate your thoughts.

Addendum: I do have a long style clutch.

  27. Thanks for the info- I have Dad's Snap-on compression set from the 50's/60's and love it, but having the crank trigger is a nice option!

  28. Finaly bought a single carb intake manifold, it came with a 97 and "was off a running car a year ago". Picked it up from the overseas shipping at lunch today, so I'm sure, I have it now!
To the question: does anyone know of this manufold, with the winged I on it? ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1475163769.202106.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1475163781.042816.jpg
