Projects Is there any commonality between 36 Chevy trucks and cars?

This may sound stilly but I have access to a complete solid 36 rolling top hat ch***is and I'm contemplating building it and putting a truck body on it. Reason being farm truck cabs are pretty plentiful but they are all on 1 ton + frames. Would it be at all reasonable to build up the car frame to put the truck body on? I wanna keep the solid front end and rear leafs so a new ch***is is a bit of a waste for me.

I have a 1936 Chevy 1/2 ton truck frame and my dad has a 1936 car frame. The wheel base for the truck is 112". I've only robbed parts off the car frame for my truck because it's in too bad of shape to use for a build. I do know that the back end of the car frame is wider than the truck frame, so that's something to take into consideration. Got any pics?

I can deal with the box I'm more wondering how easy the body would set on the frame?

The car frame is not only wider but the kick up over the rear end is higher. It would not be too hard to build a new frame out of box tubing from the firewall back. The old GM top hat frames are very flexible and thin wall.

  6. You say "solid", but be sure to check inside the frame for rust mites,,,,,
