Thats a great idea, I was just going to post a couple of shots of his RPU I saved from when he sold it. Hope his does not mind, I love the RPU, wish I could have bought it. Enjoy. CBB
I've searched this place high and low and can't find another thread for rpu's, so lets make this the unofficial rpu photo gallery. If you own one or have pictures of one, please put them here for us all to enjoy.
Another shot I saved off somewhere of the RPU in the 5th post, really cool photo. Also a shot of an RPU owned by a guy called Rogue I also saved from somewhere. CBB
O.K., I'll try and add some shots. The flamed RPU is Hellbilly's, the blue cab is Lucky's, the green one is JimA's, and last is a cool vintage photo.
This is one I built by cutting down a 2 door sedan body and building the box from scratch---I have a ton of "in process" shots and detail drawings of how to make the box if you are interested.
Here's some more. The drag T rpu, maybe the Bomb Factory? The next two are a couple of random shots, then the ever popular So-What rpu, a couple from a guy named Zibo, haven't seen him post on here in a while, but its one of my favorite rpu's, and then a zoomie concept drawing from another HAMBer.
And a few more. The vintage shot is Larry "Chopsticks" Shinoda's rpu, the neat grey rpu is by a very talented tin bender in Finland, sorry, I should have gotten your name w/ that shot, the yellow one is the "Happy Days" truck, and then two from the HAMB'er, Riz.
Nice! I like the SSFE design without decapitating the frame horns. How did you do that? Do you have any close-up pics of the spring shackle attachments to the wishbones?
Thanks a lot******6, i got a lot of good ideas from all your pictures, especially the Finnish one and Zibo's (which if you have any more pictures, i'd love to see'em).
Roadster PUs must be the right*****. They gave away one at the SRNATS in 04 and they are giving another away this year. Everyone loves the truck.
Hey, brandokust, here's two more that I have of Zibo's rpu. If you do a search for "Lowsquire" or "Finland", you'll find a couple of pretty well documented builds. Ditto for "60's Style".
Thanks a lot, i've got some many great ideas now and i can't wait to start tearing in to this thing. Thanks a lot to everyone thats helped so far.
I am putting this***** box together on the cheap! Thanks in large part to my pal Killer... Thanks you****y******!

I don't have any pics right now as I'm at work but I can explain what I've done. PM me if you need pics or more info. Used '48 axle and split wishbone. Fabricated the spring mounts to slide onto the 'bones about 12" behind the axle (at the bottom of the dog leg) which places the axle about 1/2" in front of the frame horns. Those horns were just too straight to cut off. This link shows the mounts I made for the spring. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78313 Thanks for the comment Pete
Howz abouts pics of closed cab pickups turned int RPUs? That's the direction I want to go with mine. What are the differences in dimensions, doors etc. between the RPU and closed cab?
Damn, so many great ideas, some great cars here, im jealous of all you guys. What kind of motor are you running Brandy?
If you are not a midget, stretching the cab will help give some leg room. This has an added 2" in the doors and 4" in the quarters. The bed is shortened 8" from stock and is widened 4" to better match the cab. It is still a work in progress. Rear bumper added to allow for a hitch since this photo.
That's not mine.....I've yet to build a RPU, it IS however my ideal RPU. It belongs to Lowsquire, he's an aussie here on the Hamb. The mill's a 302.
Is that AA roadster Express original? Must be darn rare, I don't think I even saw pictures of that in Henry's Lady.I like
I don't know about the blue one, I just shot it at a show. I do know the red one, it's an old restoration, and as far as I know its equipment is all original. I saw a third one at Del Mar a year or two ago -- kind of a rat -- but all three appear to be same basic vehicle, and only the Del Mar one showed any evidence of hot rod modifications.
I'm not exaxtly sure what you want to see, in terms of a hot-rodded roadster pickup. Mine is pure hotrod, thru and thru, and is built from a 31 sedan shortened about 48" and the top removed. I built the bed from scratch. It has a boxed model A frame, an S10 rearend (1985), a 305/350 engine******* combo, and a 4" dropped front axle. I built a convertible top frame (non-folding) over the winter, and I am just waiting for my upholstery guy to sew the top for it. If you have any questions. I would be glad to answer them. My roadster pickup is 6" longer between the center of the dash rail and the rear of the*****pit than a stock model A. I didn't channel it because my back isn't great, and it hates it when I have to set flat on the floor with my legs stuck almost straight out, as you do in a channeled car.
I was looking for anything, all the images gave me some idea or helped me get my thoughts in a row. But something came up and now it looks like i'm going to have to sell off my rpu cab and frame
