looked at a car today and took a couple pictures of the engine casting numbers and came up blank? casting number on left rear 010207. normally i can find these things but drawing a blank this time? thanks.
yeh, 207, is the early 80s 350 block. If you want more info, find the numbers stamped on the top p***enger side of the block, just in front of the head. usually hiding under the alternator if it has the stock stuff on the front.
thanks guys! usually the casting numbers will id one and that's what i usually do but all i found was 14010207 also. anyone else run across this? could it be a service replacement block? those are usually marked as such. gonna try and have the guy send me the stamped numbers.
here are 2 sets of stamped numbers off pad in front of right cylinder head: V0416FMJ & CF1190705 any help would be great!
86 chevy truck according to the partial VIN, but 84 truck according to the FMJ suffix, according to an on line look up. the casting date at the back of the block should help you figure out which it is, if it it matters. They're pretty much all the same...
All mine are 010 blocks, WOOOOH. I agree with Jim, all the same. I'd be more concerned with core shift in individual blocks rather than chasing "cool" casting numbers...I'd rather have a "straight" 207 block than an 010 that's shifted to the major thrust side any day of the week.
thanks guys! i'm leaning towards 84 since the heads don't have the center bolt valve covers. being told the motor is new but no paperwork providing the claim is true since PO is dead.
