Who makes a reasonably-priced 3-ring hypereutectic piston for my 8BA/255 Merc flattie with either 1/16 x 1/16 x 3 /16, OR metric rings? I know about the ones from Egge & Speedway, but they're only available with the original (read: "wide") ring widths. Ross makes $$$ forgings with metric rings - but, the motor isn't gonna be blown or sprayed, so I'd rather have the tight fit of a cast piston. Anyone? THANX! :)

You might try Patricks in Arizona. Flathead Jack maybe, or even Red at Red's Headers. I think most everyone is offereing the Ross versions. Flathead Jack would probably be able to direct you if they dont have any.

We offer in our Sealed Power Piston line a cast-piston that has a 4-groove ring package. The part number is 1003P, and is available in Standard, +20, +30, +40, +60, +80.
The matching Sealed Power Piston-Ring Set number is E247KC.

Hope that is some help to your search.

I bought from Speedy Bill, the cost was realy good and they are made by Badger. I here from folks that I trust that quality is fine. But now that there is the HAMB Alliance there is proly a better place to do buisness!!

Hey Turbo, I read my last post and I don't think I got my point across. What I was trying to say was that the HAMB vendors that I have called have saved me every time; thats why I'm joining!

THANX, Guys - I'll give Flathead Jack a call tomorrow (he's a "local" for me). [IMG]

THANX, Glenn - But, I'd really rather have a lighter 3-ring piston with a narrow ring pack, if I can find it at a reasonable cost.

BTW, has anyone else noticed that the cast 3-ring pistons offered by both Speedy Bill and Egge Machine look identical? I pulled up the images on the two respective websites and couldn't tell any difference right down to the smallest detail. Do you suppose........................?????!!!!! [IMG]

Hi Ray, if you can't get exactly what you're looking for, I may be able to help you, BUT, the key word is budget. I use only Ross custom pistons in the units I build. These particular pieces have a 1.5, 1.5, 3.0 mm "Moly" ring setup and I only keep them in one size. It would be for the Merc with the 4.000" stroke AND only for a 3.228" finished bore. The size availability on this particular one is based on the ring number. Other sizes can be made with "Moly" rings, but this is the one's I stock.

The Ross pieces run very quiet as I keep the P/W at a minimum, even when cold! They are built with the 2618T-61 forgings. This material allows closer tolerances and no noise!

I do keep the cast replacement pistons for the Fords and Mercs but only for use with "cast" rings. These are the 4-ring setup however.

    Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. I also have the "bronze" guides/stainless valve package at all times. If you like send me an e-mail and I'll contact you!

It the E247KC Sealed Power ring set moly or just castiron? I'm looking for a moly ring set for my 239 c.i. 1953 flathead Ford V-8 with four-groove Merc pistons. TIA for any help finding these.
