I just found this thread. I like this kind of build!! Looks like your on a roll. June will be here before you know it.
Nice work Peter . I hope to take a few days and get my hands dirty on this one with you. Glad you didn't take my bad advice and hack this thing together. You obviously have more vision then I do. Keep up the good work. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I can't seem to Load pics in order. Every time I load the them in order, they're in reverse order? Anywho, I was able to sneak into the shop today for a few. Finished making the rear subrails and skirts. Bolted them down and mocked the quarters in place. Next I'll make the B-pillar mounts so I can bolt the quarters in place.
Quarter panels just clamped into position... The rear ended isn't in position right now so it looks a little funky.
Mr. Peetah, Coming together very nicely- think how many boneheads that looked at your ad and said " No way!" are eating Crow for dinner! I Love it. Miguel
Haha... Right. Funny thing is, I now have enough parts to build a '32 roadster from coupe parts. Quarter panels, cut down coupe doors + some X tras .....
I grew up in Brighton. Caddied at Brookline & Commonwealth CC, worked at Filene's employee cafeteria on Rt #9 then at a Pizza-Sub shop across from BC & St. Ignastias in the late '50s. Visited relatives in Mission Hill - lots of Irish immigrants lived there (my parents started in Dorchester then to Brighton in 1941). Better hurry, Pete, not much time between cooling & heating season. Won't be long & you'll be getting those night time calls to fix the broken heat. Have U moved since I was there a few years ago?
Shamus! Love it! All of those landmarks are local stomping grounds. I live in the same spot you visited! I have since built a shop but still keep stuff in the garage under the house.
[/QUOTE] My son works on Hanscom. Retired from the AF 10 years ago & stayed there. I'll make a point to visit next time I come up, Pete, maybe it will be running. Looking good.
Btw. My father worked in the Mission Hill church for years as a janitor cleaning the function hall. My uncle Gus lived on south Huntington ave just on the other side of the Jamaica way. I rode my bike all thru Mission Hill as a kid and most of the time had to walk home because it was stolen at knife point....growing up on the outskirts of Boston teaches a young lad a lot in a short amount of time. We grew up poor but my father devoted his life to giving to people and families that had less than he....he would get day old muffins from star market in Brighton, load his dodge Aries K wagon, drive them to the pine street inn and surrounding shelters... All on his own time.
32 owners..... I'm stuck on one measurement. I'm looking for the distance from the cowl band... Not the firewall band.... To the very edge of the front frame horn. Like these.
Hi Pete. This build reminds me of the old saying"Patch on patch, and a hole in the middle". Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
Alright... So a few questions for the 32 experts. Since a stock 32's b-pillars basically sit on top of the frame but slightly outboard... When these cars are Channelled it seems necessary to either slightly spread the pillar outward and down over the frame. I'm sure there's more than one way to do this so if any of you have a suggestion on which is best.... I'm all ears. Pics tell a thousand words.
I have to say, the early Fords were built tough. It took me the better part of 2 hours to dissect a stock 32 four door sedan B pillar. I removed the inner skin so that the upper half of the sedan pillar could be grafted to the lower 5 window pillar. I didn't have the upper half so I had to make due.
Moving right along there Pete. Added to which for all your efforts you get a 32 roadster to build when you done with this. Result! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Great thread. I'm in the same boat with my A so I love to see guys pulling off this kind of build. Carry on.
So bad ass! I forgot to subscribe last time but I fixed that. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
