well as we get closer to may 29th, the 2nd annual "southwest primer run to Tombstone" draws closer, and i have a few questions that i would like some feedback on, from some of you phx and sierra vista guys, (and anyone else that may be attending)

to recap we did the first run last year on memorial day (monday) we planned the whole run about 4 days be fore the actual run itself!! and had an attendance of 16 cars and about 30 people. fun was had by all and it was a very good time, and a great chance for fellow arizona hamb'ers to meet each other.

this year we are expecting attendance of 100-150+. our intention is to rent out a local bar in tombstone for our 3 booked bands to play, and a car show, as well as a meet and greet for fellow hamb'ers.

my questions are, do you guys feel that making this a 2 day event is something you would enjoy? maybe the "run" itself on saturday morning to tombstone, then park in our designated show area, then a few hours for everyone to hang out in tombstone, then mosey on over to the bar for the night scene we will be hosting.
then sunday morning the car show/ meet and greet and maybe some food and beverages, the the trip back that afternoon.

there are two local hotels directly in the area that we may be able to reserve a "block of rooms" for everyone, and there is quite a bit of R.V. parking as well.

any feedback is welcomed and help or ideas.

Jerry? hot rod Ron? El Polako? Desert Droog? suggestions?

Let us know when it firms up. Not sure about a two day deal.

Might make the second day optional. Some don't want to be gone for that long. I think the meet&greet could be done on Sat. Maybe a b'fast get together and show on Sunday. I'm up for it either way.

damn you home early today ol man?....lol

yeah i dunno. i dont really have a preference myself, but i will probably stay for the whole weekend and visit bisbee on sunday or something...

so maybe the run itself sat morning, down to the mustang corners, then to tombstone, then a meet and greet, and up to Johnny Ringo's for the evening fun......something like that jerry?

I would probably only be up for one day, too much shit to do on the weekends to blow 2 days playing.

yes it is, and like i said we are working on doing it the weekend before.

  11. I liked that everything was on one day imho. My pops amd myself had a really good time and was neat to see everything on the road at once. my favorite part of the day was all the local tombstone towns people and tourists all slacked jawed when we rolled into town. My vote is for one day. are you going to the vintage drag at the strip on april 8th. They want a whole lot of "rat rods". pops and myself are going on staurday to the strip.

Whatever you want to do is fine with me. I am still trying to get a fender for my passenger side so my car is not ready to drive yet. Then it is sand city and paint.

I will have to ride co-pilot if I go.

    Sucks to be me.

JUST TO UPDATE YOU GUYS ON THE PROGRESS....

we have 3 bands booked for the event, and its looking like its going to be on saturday the 27th. we will begin the run in phx down to a designated spot in tucson, from there we will travel the "scenic route" to mustang corners and meet up with the sierra vista/benson and surrounding city guys,....and then on to tombstone, where the city of tombstone will be expecting us. and there is a chili cookoff going on that weekend as well as "wyatt earp days" with gun shows and shoot out reinactments.

then we will be hosting a nighttime party over at the local bar (hopefully johnny ringos or the chrystal palace).

keep you guys informed as it progresses

I kinda liked it as a one day thing. I don't know if I'd stay 2 days down there.

Im planing on going and i think that a 2 day thing is too muchlike jerry said it could all be done in one day. If we all meet someplace for break fast in tucson do a little meet and greet then all drive down to tombstone at once then we al just hang there and then move on to the bar or what ever for the night time events. My 2 cents...

well it will work out basically like this, the phoenix crown will meet us in tucson, we will all caravan down through patagonia, to mustang corners and meet up with the sierra vista and surrounding areas guys, then we all caravan down to tombstone. we'll all park in our designated area, and go hang out for a couple of hours in tombstone, till the evening festivities begin. most of us are going to spend the night and drive back sunday morning casually ( like hot rod ron suggested) because i will not support any drinking and driving at night, or have any part in it.
the city of tombstone is very much behind this run of ours, and im actually leaving for tombstone right now to try and book out the CRYSTAL PALACE. so i will update everyone later today when i get back

I also have no problem with making it a full weekend, just as long as I can get back to Phoenix somehow or Tucson [if I drive my non kustom modern car there and leave it at Ron's or Ron Sr.'s place]. Anyone need a copilot back? Jerry? You know you like my shennanigans, except I am not going to wear a shag carpet and bark at you like a wookie this time... so forget about even asking for that.

The Albuquerque NM HAMB crew will be attending this year.......I'm up for a 2-day event.........sounds like a good time.......see ya.....Neal

  28. Damn, I can't make it on Mem day as I will be going to Tenn. I would prefer this earlier in the year, when it ain't so friggin hot. I like the 2 day, but structure it so 1 day guys can get the most out of it.

I wanted to go last year. I think I'm going to go this year, although I'm not sure if I'll have any of my old cars ready. I might need to drive my daily out there, but a 2 day event sounds cool if you decide to go that route. Just because of the distance it is to Tucson.

If anyone is coming through here (Yuma) or going the same direction, maybe we can caravan up there.
