I just read a message on,sorry, Myspace, saying something to the effect that the chief of police is triing to or has passed a new law calling hot rods a public nuisance! Word has it that any hot rod with two or more infractions will be inpounded! Anybody hear of this or know anymore? Please, this was the only big show that hasn't been overrun with Cry Baby Grease-a-billies!!

Hahaha... If they impound all the car, run the show outta Paso, then the town wouldn't have ANY income. lol

  3. So, they're moving the Paso show to the Impound Lot? Hmmmmm…

  4. What did the Chief of Police say when you called to verify this? Wayno

B.S Like Seymore said the town needs the income that we bring. There hasnt been any big problems in the last couple of years to evoke this B.S not to mention last year guys were crusin in on registerd hot rods in front of cops and they didnt say shit

  8. I wouldnt worry about what your read on myspace...there is no legality and besides, The chief of police doesnt pass laws. He may have opinions and have his officers come down harder on violators, but nothing further. You cannot impound a car because of something that happened in the past if it was taken car of. Just go and have a good time

Yeah, I figured as much, I just thought I'd ask! I don't know if I've ever seen anyone even getting pulled over for more than a warning.

This was the first year I was there all weekend with a car in the show and I NEVER saw any coppers haveing any issues with anyone. No cops even at the Bowling Alley Saturday night with issues. It was the coolest. Must be just rumors on MySpace.

LOL I guess I'm seriously out of the loop. I haven't heard a word of this, but that doesn't mean it not true. But I doubt any of it is true.

I saw a guy get pulled over last Sept, he was driving a black primered,
T coupe. They lit him for "excessive amounts of black marks on the street",
and he didn't even get a ticket!

If your not an asshole to them (EVILT), there usually pretty cool.

There is truth to the city wanting a concourse show instead of the WCK event. In my opinion it would never work. Guys with million dollar cars are not going to spend $150 a night on roach filled shitbox hotel rooms, go to a bowling alley, or eat at most of the restaurants in town.

  16. I couldn't have said it better myself. If you have ever stayed at the farmhouse Motel on Spring Street, that is so true

Rule of the day: Dont ever believe anything you read on MySpace.

  18. Hmm just to play devils advocate here, keep in mind the town does NOT need the WCK show as they are plenty booked up through the year with events these days. The show used to be much more low key than in recent years. A few years ago they got pretty fed up with "greasabilly hot rodders" tearing around the town at night, so called in a LOT of backup from surrounding police forces the following year. I saw a string of cop cars waiting inline in the alley behind the old A&W waiting to pull over the next guy who did a burnout leaving the drive inn. The cop presence has been a bit mellower of late and I hope it stays that way, but.......

Now I think there is a good chance that the myspace stuff is over blown crap but there is reason to be concerned about how the city views the show, as WCK has tried to be a good guest in the town and things have mellowed out a bit as the trendy "hot rod, bad ass greaser" thing has cooled down a bit, but much as the business community likes the mnoney the show brings in, if the city finds it to be more hassle than they want to deal with it will be gone. As I said before, there are more events in that town that sell the place out throughout the year than when WCK started having the show there. Also the town and its demographic are changing, if you have been going to Paso for any length of time you will know what I mean (think gentrification).

Point is, the myspace stuff might just be overblown paranoid BS, but when at Paso be a good guest cause all it takes is a to piss off a couple of folks at CIty Hall and it could be history! And trust me I've spoken to some pissed off cops at Paso before who have really seemed like they would not miss the show (or should I say some of the folks it brings to town which in the end to the city will be the same thing).

I hope it doesn't get shutdown and I hope it doesn't turn out like alot of the other shows.Like the Mooneyes X-mas party, don't get me wrong, I like that show, but hacked up 8 door shit boxes slapped together with a fresh coat of "flat black" paint and the OCC rusty theme cars are not all that pleasing to the eye after awhile!! Sorry, I'm opening up another can of worms!!!:(

  21. This is all a load of misinformation. Please.

Lock this thread and lets move on. WCK and its Paso event ain't going anywhere and the town loves it.

  24. Shit, last year (my first time there) i saw at least four or five people get pulled over it was so gay and i remeber on of them was for useing hydros, and another guy for flamethrowers, WTF!! the way i look at it though the cops in paso aint shit, i mean it's US who make the town their money and the cops obviously have nothing to do so they pretend to "put pressure on the Degenerate hot rodders" What fucking pussys!

I don't know what planet some people live on but all the shit people at paso with there cars is illegal. Hydros, Air bags, Flame throwers, Burnouts all that shit is criminal activity. It's not lame that cops bust people for that shit, it's lame of those people for not being sneakier and watch out for the fuzz. I've done all kinds of dumb shit almost everytime I gone out in my ol car and get away with it. Have fun, be smart about it and don't ruin it for everybody else.
There is a time and place for fun stuff you just have find it.
