As far as the car is concerned , what is the advantage of having it in a heated garage vs one that has no heat and could get to frigid temps? One of my main concerns is how it might affect any patches that I've put in. Currently keep my car in my in house garage but contemplating moving it into an unheated garage for the winter to give me more room for another project. Thanks for any input.

I'd store it in the unheated garage. If your patches fail, it's better to know sooner than later.

Has to do with temperature changes, humidity, dew point and stuff like that. I stored mine in an unattached garage and even with a de-humidifier there was moisture on the surfaces many mornings. Probably depends a lot on where you are located. Someone should come along and better explain it.

Park it over large pieces of cardboard and don't cover it with a non breathable type of cover such as plastic or a tarp. Also do what you have to protect it from mice and other critters. Some say Irish Spring works as a deterrent.

  5. The last couple years car has spent winters in a shop with in-floor heat-which I think is the ultimate.
Prior to that,I have stored mine in both heated and un heated-but usually insulated areas-usually with a breathable car cover(California car cover co) The cardboard underneath is a good idea and varmint control is a must. Have not had any problems but I do believe some sort of airflow or ventilation is important to fight condensation. Ambient temperature fluctuations can cause condensation in your fuel tank also-keep it full.

Thanks for the advice. Some good food for thought.
Haven't seen the garage yet so not sure what I will do but thanks again.

Fans work well being directed to the undercarriage and another to the body in an unheated garage. Be sure to use fans with heat sensors. I.E. Ventilation types.

i have used old carpet on the floor to keep the dew off of my chrome--spiders don't like it either.

Mine sits under an open carport. Mother Nature controls the temps!
