I'm currently working on a 1962 Catalina so I did a few searches looking for old threads featuring '60s Ponchos. I was sorta suprised that very little turned up. I found some kickass 1960s but nothing 1961 and later.

I figured I'd take the initiative and put a call out to anyone else with sixties Pontiacs to post up some pictures of your rides.

I'll start with a shot of mine from last year... hopefully she'll be roadworthy in the next few weeks.

My dad has a '63 bonneville convertible that was his daily driver for years, but we tore it apart about a year ago for new quarters, floors, paint and interior. It should be done by June, but I'll see if I can find a picture of it from before the teardown and post it.

Great car, also one of my favorites but as you said, not seen to often. If I could find one I would probably buy and stash in the family barn till I could get a few other projects done.

Really nice stuff so far... but there's gotta be more!

roadapple-- Phenominal car... did you have any clearance issues fitting Cragars on the back of that '64? What size and backspace are they? tire size too?

Poncho-- now I understand the handle. Those are all sweet but that wagon really brings a tear. Some of those look like Canadian Pontiacs. Are the rumors true that they shared more with chevys?-- x-frames, motors etc?

Gambino-- I cannot put into words the love and respect I have for the cars that you've put together. Awesome work.

One day I'll have a straight axle, 421 Tri-power SD, 4 speed '62 Catalina. Bad ass cars.

  14. Here's mine, about 15 years ago. This was (is) my first car I got right after high school. Worked on it all through college, but had to stop when I got in dental school for lack of time. Still was my daily driver up until about 10 years ago when I got rear ended. It's been in storage for about 6 or 7 years waiting it's turn in line. I never got it finished, but one of these days.....

It had a 64 T-bird seats front and rear with a custom center console using the T-bird parts. Most of it is in white tuck and roll that is now worn out. Lowered with custom springs. I stripped it to bare metal after having it about 2 years and coated it in semi gloss red laquer with white flames waiting on body work (which never came other than shaving the door handles). Bored with that after a few years, I coated it in lavender primer with more white flames in this pic...the paint it currently wears. Seeing this thread has me stoked to get it back out and at least drive it around a bit. :D

    Dude! You are the SHIT!!!

I think I remember seeing that car in the background of a photo in a '70s issue of Car Craft doing a feature on street racing around Dukes. Am I full of shit or is that true?

Either way, I love seeing examples of how cars were done back in the day. Its also very cool that you're local. Awesome ride.

  16. Thanks man, Yes, I was a regular fixture at Dukes and Archer ave. cruising at Ridge Center back then.

The picture was in a issue of "CARS" magazine back then. I'm always on the lookout for pics of it taken at carshows. I never got enough shots of it. It's supposed to be in Bridgeview maybe. I would love to get it back, naturally.

    Thanks for remembering!

  18. I am flat out lovin' yours Road Apple! Of course, I'm a bit partial to '64's. ;) I love that flaked roof '64 Gambino posted, too. That slight fog around the edge of the flake is sweet!

Okay, this one didn't quite make the sixties, but it's close! It's a '70 Catalina that I've had for about 5 years. I drive it everywhere when weather permits.[IMG][IMG]
